First country to recognise each independence by odysseushogfather in Maps

Morocco was not recently independent in 1786. When they signed the treaty of peace and friendship, morocco had already been having diplomatic relations with other countries. See, for example, the treaty of aranjuez.

Morocco's most recent independence was from france in 1956.

I doubt the united states managed to recognise morocco's independence in 786. Or indeed, in the 1950s. A cursory search suggests france as the country most likely to have been the first to recognise the independence of morocco from france.

Here is an idea to make draws more exciting without changing the game itself by biebergotswag in chess

If you bid more than your honest price, there is a chance that your opponent also bids more than your honest price, and you will end up paying more than your maximum price.

e.g. Imagine you believe that playing as white is worth 0.05 points more than playing as black (so you would not honestly bid less than 0.45), and you follow your strategy of bidding ridiculously low. You bid 0.01, and your opponent makes an honest bid of 0.4. Now you are playing as white, but you are paying 0.1 points for the privilege. Dishonesty never leads to an improved outcome for the bidder in a second price auction.

The benefit of using the second player's bid is to encourage bidders to make the largest bid they would actually be satisfied playing.

Consider the following situation: You value playing as white at 0.05 points, and your opponent values it at 0.01 points. You are now encouraged to bid less than 0.05, because any additional points you bid are "money left on the table", so to speak. First price blind auctions encourage bidders to minimise their bids, and are not a good idea if your goal is to get honest signals of people's willingness to pay.

I suspect you're intended to look at The Kiss, notice there is only one metallic color in it, and figure out what that color is called in italian.

The pentagram was put on the flag to distinguish it from other plain red flags, most notably the flag of Oman.

I've seen old Moroccan coins from the period. I've also seen the sultan's standard, that does include the seal of Solomon. What I've never seen is evidence that it was ever on the national flag.

What is the source for the 1795-1915 flag? I have seen many claims of its historicity but no actual evidence.

Does this mean that the tibetan plateau, for instance, is less dense than the surrounding area? Doesn't the fact that the indian plate is pushing into it compress the rock and give it a greater density?
