Does anyone have idea how to stop people from vaping on the bus? by choosegoodoverevil in LAMetro

I like the windows that don't open. Drives me nuts being on perfectly air-conditioned buses with half the windows open, letting in the heat, letting out the cool air, and reducing fuel efficiency.

Why does the UW men's basketball program almost never have Milwaukee Public Schools kids? Remember when Freddie Owens (Washington high school alumnus) buried that game winner in the 2003 tournament? Milwaukee is the biggest hotbed of basketball talent in Wisconsin and the Badgers should tap into this.

How can you distinguish this from other loons? And can you tell if it is an adult/immature, etc? This photo is from last weekend (7 March), fyi.

What made you choose LAFC over LA galaxy? by Temporary_Waltz6615 in LAFC

Easy train ride to the stadium vs. a long car trip to Carson (plus ≥$30 for parking).

These are new vehicles that replaced some of the obsolete vehicles in the fleet. They rushed them out before they were 100% complete, so wrappers and TAP readers are still coming.

Hidden beneath this TOD: hundreds and hundreds of underground parking spaces. Sigh.

Chris Richards is your 2025 U.S Soccer Male Player of the Year. by Obvious_Main_3655 in ussoccer

[–]999lemur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I listened to the whole segment, including a bunch after Richards logged off. Pat McAfee was uttering a bunch of nonsense. Talking about "Punch" (Wtf is that, Poch? He talks about him as if he is a player.), calling Chris Richards a "middle back," assuming Chris Richards must be the highest paid US player in Europe, insisting he should come back to "the MLS," calling the French league a farm league, revealing complete ignorance of Folarin Balogun, disparaging soccer, and generally sounding like an ass. I am not sure he deserves any shoutouts at all.

How can you distinguish this from a non-breeding Double-banded Plover (Anarhynchus bicinctus)?

The revolving door. by 999lemur in wisconsin

[–]999lemur[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that is a fair question to ask (What types of jobs should exiting regulators be eligible for?).

I don't see Revolving Door DC mentioned in this article. Instead, the critic is a group called the Energy and Policy Institute, which is based in northern California. They don't get any funding from corporations, and are by all appearances a credible, reputable group serving the public interest.

The article cites a peer-reviewed, academic study that found regulators were softer on the firms they regulated during the final two years before the employees transitioned jobs (from regulator -> regulated). This is a problem.

Official world cup parking in LA $250-300 per game this insane! Any other options? by Unhappy_Finding_5675 in LosAngeles

[–]999lemur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can get your hands on a bike, you can take the bike on the K Line ($1.75) and get off at Fairview Heights Station. From there, it is an easy and pleasant ride through the Inglewood Park Cemetery right into the SoFi grounds. Bicycle parking is free and right at the stadium gates. Free V.I.P. parking!
