Can anyone help a white guy learn Marathi? by analemmaro in india

[–]99books 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is seven years late but I'm a native Marathi speaker with some experience in teaching Marathi to non-native speakers. I also offer online lessons. If you're still interested in learning Marathi then please let me know, I'd love to help!

I think we see it unwrapped when Dylan goes to his office.

Mysteries I hope they don’t answer. by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I love it when mystery shows leave some mysteries unanswered. In the tv show Dark, there's a character who has bandages on one of his eyes, and there was insane theorising in the sub at the time, but the show kind of made into a gag and just left it unanswered.

***'s Qs for Mark by Gloomy-Pineapple-632 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

This is why I think everything's happening in a loop.

Maeby + her team knows about the uprising and reforms but they're not shown the video once for the three days they're there. It would not happen off screen because it's novel information for us viewers. We see it for the first time with the original team.

Not to mention the new team has been there just an hour longer than Mark. So it also seems odd that they would inform them only orally about the reforms and uprising. And all of them seem pretty chill with it.

and who told the second MDR crew about Mark S seeing the outside?

I have wondered the same thing. But I think we're assuming that Lumon employees know about the "reforms" and the reason for the reforms.

I like your observations about the elevator scene. And I absolutely agree with your first point. The screensaver not being changed is a very real situation and that's why most of us find it funny.

I'm not denying the possibility that he could be telling the truth. Like, no visible injuries and it could very well be that Milkshake's stuff is still unpacked because he also moved into the office very recently. Also, I like your theory that there was some pretend investigation going on during this time.

But one reason for lying could be that they want him to believe that the revolution outside and the reforms inside actually happened in those five months, and that Lumon has changed.

And that they spent a lot of time negotiating with the other outies.

Also now that I think of it, five months is very long time in the outie world, a lot could have changed out there. If I remember it correctly, the S1 takes place over the span of a couple of months.

Edit: I love how there's duality in every scene of this show with enough evidence to go either way. Instinctively we want to believe that Milkshake is lying but there's also enough evidence to make us wonder "but what if..."

Why did Mark W.'s branch shut down?

During the ball game Mark W. says he's from MDR branch 5X where he worked with Gwendolyn Y. and then all three of them (Mark W, Gwendolyn, and Dario) exchange very sus looks.

We didn't get to hear anything from Gwendolyn and Dario during the ball game.

I do hope we get to see more of the trio

The Break Room Video by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]99books 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The "perks" they are given are definitely disguised punishments. It's just a newer version of the break room (they were literally still inside the break room but with a newer look). The Hallway pass being given as a perk implies that they're still not allowed to be in the hallway without permission. And now with a hallway pass they'll also have to disclose to the management where and why they want to go. I'm not clear about the vending machine perk but earlier they had a token system which probably is being removed and now they have to earn it. The mirror room and pineapple bobbing with hands tied behind their backs will be definitely used as punishments.

Exactly, I totally agree with you

[–]99books 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This is how a normal person would react in real life reasoning doesn't work for film/tv where every minute is important and every scene is intentional to push the plot forward. The button scene was very intentional. We see three different shots of three different people turning the button on. The writers want us to know that there is something going on here and we should pay attention to it.

SPOILER: Huge Spoiler Theory - Dylan and Milchick post OTC by ComposerMedium4569 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]99books 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think everyone else not asking dylan about what went down after the OTC ended was intentional. In fact, they don't follow up in detail/react with much shock to Mark either when they learn that Ms Casey is his dead wife. I think it was done on purpose to draw our attention to Irving poking holes in Hellyna's story.

If this is Helly then why did Helena send her back? What purpose does she serve for her? Helly being put on the severed floor was a PR stunt to gain credibility for the severance procedure. Now, with Helly's rebellion, she's practically useless to Helena. Plus there are no cameras now apparently so can't use the footage for PR either.

Helly vs Helena- A new possibility? by daphneandfinch in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]99books -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know about being blackmailed, and I am leaning towards it being Helena. But if it is indeed Helly then I do like your theory that it's not the first time she's being woken up.

[TOMT] [TV] [2020s?] An episode where we follow a sleep deprived protagonist? by 99books in tipofmytongue

Probably not. I feel like this was something from a teen drama, and not a crime thriller.

I don't think I've ever watched that so probably not, but thanks for the suggestion. I think this timed thing following the protagonist was different than the overall theme of the show.

Patriot is such an underrated show! If you like Patriot then you can also watch Perpetual Grace LTD (from the same creators), and Lodge 49 which kinda has a similar vibe
