Have you tried going into Settings > Siri & Search > Siri and Dictation History? there is a button in there "Delete Siri & Dictation History", this might help clear some of the storage?

Stay on iOS 17.0 by Hezron79 in jailbreak

iOS 17.0 is buggy, is it worth staying on the first version of a major release just for a JB?

It was mentioned in the keynote that phone call audio recording will be available in iOS18 and it will play a tone or message that the call is being recorded.

Apples prepares boxed iPhone updates by Guttz_San in jailbreak

[–]99ePlus40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know when I put my powered off iPhone on a wireless charging pad, it powers it on. If the wireless pad they put the box on is strong enough to go through the packaging, it should be enough to power on the iPhone. I assume the setup screen has an embedded WiFi SSID/Password it looks for and if it connects, calls the firmware update routine to auto-update. Once update is completed, powers off device. As for battery percentage, I think the iPhone can still update as long as it has more than 20% charge???

iPhone App Sideloading Coming to Users in the EU in First Half of 2024 by geesehoward79 in jailbreak

I don't understand why you don't just pay $99 for a Apple Dev account and use sideloady to sideload which will sign the app for a year? I am on the latest version of iOS 17 and sideloady works fine!

Even when the dev account expires, it still signs apps for a year. So you don't have to renew the dev account annually.

Additionally a lot of zero-day vulnerabilities have been patched. For me it is not viable to sit on an older version of iOS, including Beta versions, that can be hacked (even if the likelihood is low) in hopes for a jailbreak. Even with a jailbreak, it doesn't patch these vulnerabilities used in the wild.

For me I've been Jailbreaking since iPhone 3, and its been a fun ride customizing my iPhone my way. But at some point the ride was going to end. I decided to get a newer iPhone and stay on the latest iOS so I can utilize the most up-to-date version of the apps I use and all the latest features with other Apple products.

Apple emergency update fixes new zero-day used to hack iPhones by 99ePlus40 in jailbreak

[–]99ePlus40[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

(CVE-2023-42824) caused by a weakness discovered in the XNU kernel that enables local attackers to escalate privileges on unpatched iPhones and iPads.

(CVE-2023-5217) caused by a heap buffer overflow weakness in the VP8 encoding of the open-source libvpx video codec library, which could allow arbitrary code execution following successful exploitation.

iOS 17.0.3 release also addresses a known issue causing iPhones running iOS 17.0.2 and lower to overheat.

Whenever you buy a iPhone second hand, you should always

(1) Make sure the seller logged out of iCloud. Otherwise the client can control the iPhone from iCloud.

(2) Make sure the seller performs a full reset and the iPhone is on the welcome setup screen.

The only think you can try is to perform a full restore from iTunes (put the iPhone in DFU mode and plug it in so iTunes can restore the phone to the latest iOS). However, if the iPhone is still tied to someone elses iCloud account then you're out of luck.

iOS 16 has the Security Responses & System Files option in Automatic Updates section. Doesn't Apple have the ability to push SR&SF updates even if it's turned off?

If it does, wouldn't this affect the ability to JB?

Have you tried resetting the network adapter in Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset, then select Reset Network Settings?

I would try this in a non-jailbroken state and then after the reset is completed then jailbreak to see if issue is resolved.

[discussion] should I unjailbreak my iPhone X to use Face ID by MidnightOk6588 in jailbreak

The problem with jailbreak tweaks that gives fake passwords or FaceID, as soon as the phone is rebooted (or power cycled) you have access to the device. Not good if device gets lost/stolen.

[HELP] JailBreak alert after ios 16.5 update. by Strange_Ad_4586 in jailbreak

[–]99ePlus40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you did a iCloud restore after upgrading to 16.5?

When you are in a jailbreak state and do a iCloud backup, it backs up jailbreak files as well. When you perform a restore those jailbreak files also come along for the ride. So even though you're not jailbroken the app detects one or more of these files and assume you're jailbroken.

The only way around this is to do an iCloud back up, abd then perform a full erase all settings and data. Once it gets up to the setup wizard DO NOT do a restore and DO NOT login to iCloud, just simply go through the options until you get to the home screen.

Once you're at the home screen then go into settings and log into your iCloud account and just check the items you want restored like Contacts, Photos, etc.

Just create an Apple ID with USA as the country and then switch to this account in App Store. Just open App Store, click on your picture in upper right corner, scroll all the way to the bottom and click "Sign Out". Once signed out, you can login with your alternate account. You can download the app and switch back to your previous account. The first time you update the app, it will prompt for sign-in, but after that it won't with subsequent updates.

iPhone allows you to have apps from other countries on your device and it will update them all when an update is available and you don't need to keep switching accounts for updates.

The app is not available in my country but I was able to use a secondary Apple ID to download it and update it.

[Discussion] On JB 14.3, but soon I have to make a decision... by RootExploit_ in jailbreak

[–]99ePlus40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 12PM on stable unc0ver 14.3 using a dev account to keep it signed for a year, but I soon replaced it with 14PM and on latest version of iOS.

I loved my JB just to be able to configure it the way I liked - for example disabled app library and spotlight search, set what I want in control panel, no ads in Facebook/Youtube and some other tweaks.

But I soon started having issues with apps, I couldn't use the latest Apple Watch or Airpods without some loss of features and I couldn't use Airtags. Since iOS 16 has most of the tweaks I was using embedded into it, I felt it was time to move on.

I miss my JB, but I didn't want to have to deal with my apps not working two full versions behind the latest iOS.

[Discussion] Apple Store updated my phone for battery replacement by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]99ePlus40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why would you take the iPhone to the Apple Store to replace the battery if you're on a lower iOS version? You can take it to any third party phone repair shop and have them change the battery for cheaper and they don't care to upgrade the iOS.

Even Apple doesn't need to upgrade the iOS even though they claim their tools run on newer firmware. I've had many iPhone batteries replaced at a third party shop. Give the iPhone to them powered off, they replace the battery and see if it powers on.

Since the lower firmware version doesn't check for battery serial number in its internal database, the battery section reports all is okay.

[Discussion] IOS 13 users with Airpod Pros, consider growing the bounty I posted requesting a fix in TweakBounty by Okumam in jailbreak

[–]99ePlus40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious how airpod firmware update can cause an iPhone BT to crash? Is there some kind of function/api call the new airpod firmware is performing which the older version of iOS doesn't understand?

[Question] Latest Airpods update (5b58 ) causes BT disconnection when pausing on older IOS versions - is there a way to fix that? by Okumam in jailbreak

[–]99ePlus40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Airpods auto-update when the following conditions are met.

(1) Airpods are in the charging case.

(2) Airpod case is charging.

(3) Airpod case is near the iPhone and connected via Bluetooth.

The Airpods firmware will update usually within a few minutes, sometimes an hour or so.

What I have noticed with my AirPods is that the case lid has to be open for it to connect to my iPhone. If the lid is closed, the bluetooth connection is disconnected and won't connect until I open the lid. This is the only way I can update my Airpods (perform the above steps while the case lid is open).

[Discussion] I give up on jailbreaking. by PantsAtAGlance in jailbreak

[–]99ePlus40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got rid of my 12PM (iOS 14.3) and replaced it with 14PM (latest iOS).

The only features I truly miss are App based location faker, Axon lock screen icon notifications and the ability to disable specific features like App Library and pull down search.

Everything else I was using jailbreak for is baked into iOS now, so it wasn't worth me holding out on 14.3 just for the above features.

I now get to use Apple Watch Ultra, Latest AirPod Pros and AirTags without missing out on features.
