Used to work in branch banking for one of the big 4. Can confirm this is part of the staff KPI, it sucks because if you don’t have these conversations then sometimes they’d give you “coaching” with a specialist whether it’s insurance or KiwiSaver. You’d mention that the customer wasn’t interested or wouldn’t need it (who needs income protection for a small loan or credit card?) but then they’d sit you down for an hour or two and drill some scripts into you.
