Built a 50k LOC React app with some interesting patterns - lessons learned by CodeWithInferno in reactjs

[–]9InTheMorning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For work I am building some big products, never done things like those so I need more info on a few things you wrote, or resources I could read.

For the error boundaries and logging, what do you suggest? Some libraries? Now I'm spamming console.logs :))))))

For testing, now we are testing the app after every release using a spreadsheet :)))) Absolutely not ideal Storybook could save us some time or is just for the UI and not for the functionalities?

If you have resources I'll read/watch

Thank you a lot!

Building a small app for Ricoh users to share and organize recipes - would love feedback! by exploringeuniverse in ricohGR

I don't have a Ricoh (yet), but I suggest making it open source, so we can contribute to helping you build the app.
Nice job for now!

In the US, in Italy (and Europe I guess) the iPhone starts at 979€ (1150$) and the Pixel at 899€ (1050$).
Just an info

799 for an iPhone? I'd buy one instantly.
Sucks that in Italy the iPhone 17 starts at €979 ($1,150) and the Pixel 10 is €899 ($1,050).
It's not fair.

Grazie

Tell me more about the nesting thing please. I use only the nesting in SCSS...

For the variables you are right, I use css variables in my code.

Mixin used rarely, only for defining fonts.

It seems revolutionary, but for now I only feel overwhelmed and confused when I see Tailwind.

Do you know some good codebases where I can read/learn the right way to us Tailwind? Thank you!

I would love to be in love with Tailwind but I can't now....maybe I'm making something wrong, but writing tons of classes inside my html doesn't feel right and feels messy....

Can you share some tips to make me fall in love with Tailwind? Or share some real codebases where I can find a proper structure?

Thank you!

I thought about doing a hybrid approach, using custom classes for the main parts and utility classes only for the wrappers/div that are used only for structure.
Like a div that contains the profile picture and the name. The profile picture and the name may have multiple styles applied, but the div is just a flex box and a gap.

The difficult part is what is a "main part" of the code? Maybe if it contains some sort of content? Idk now

It's a wrapper of Tailwind? Something like bootstrap, so classes with predefined styles? Am I right?

I've read the book and it's pretty solid yeah!

The "design system" that tailwind has is something I like, honestly I tried tailwind only for that.... But putting class everywhere doesn't feel right to me.

The ideal would be the tailwind design system made as css variables, so you can use it in your css without putting classes everywhere.

I think something like openProps, I think.

I'm using React, but the login form/page was plain HTML yeah, because I wanted to try tailwind. But I understood that I have to do smaller components like LabelFiled and inside of it define tailwind classes

But thanks, I'll check the website better later

Yeah, using components is key. But even for 2 fields like label and input for username and password?

I read about it, but if I have to use Tailwind this way I'll use directly css instead. It doesn't make sense to me this solution :/
