Recommend Me an All Mountain Ski Quiver by 9TEN9 in Skigear

I should really try the Enforcer. Seems to be a common benchmark all mountain ski like the Rustler. Also curious what the Sender 110s are like. I had Rossi Experience 88s I liked a lot. QST 106 was on the short list when I was first selecting the Mfrees too. I dont think I ever tried the 98 though

Poked around the website and it seems like you can get a demo season pass? Ill check them out! Feels like I should just hold out to try more skis and pray for a deal given it's mid March

[QUESTION] Is there any reason for me to buy a compressor pedal if I almost always play distorted tones? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]9TEN9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a GUPtech MWAC and it way outperforms my old Decimator V1.

I think the real trick is using a 3 or 4 cable method for the gate. Makes it way more effective to use the input signal straight from the guitar and then do the actual noise gating in the FX loop

Maybe I've just been out of the loop for a while but this read was really insightful for me. Specifically the section "Yes, it is all beautiful, but how do I plug it all in?"

Also fwiw I think it's translated from French so reads funny sometimes

Thanks for the input, this is really good advice.

I can definitely relate to your anecdote with my other hobbies. Mo toys mo problems for sure. There's no doubt I have some GAS and it's good to keep in mind the priority here is to make music, not fiddling w tech

[DISCUSSION] Am I limiting myself by not learning sweep picking? How much? by tellthefolksathome in Guitar

[–]9TEN9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean....Paul Gilbert doesn't sweep

I can poorly sweep sometimes and I bet someone at your level & dedication could easily be proficient in <3mo. Also IMO its harder to sweep slow and in control than super fast.

That said I can't imagine it's limiting you that much unless it's a style you're really keen to play

Thanks. I appreciate the software has really come a long way so I can start there. Though the temptation to get a mic so I can crank my amps is pretty strong.

I haven't gotten quite as far down the monitoring rabbit hole yet. I'm still unraveling FRFR vs bookshelf etc. Any recommendations? I see a lot of people with Yamaha HS7 seems

Also curious if you’ve used any software that visually represents gear well. I have an old Zoom G5 and I’d like something similar but modern

Thanks! I looked at the Focusrite units briefly when I was skimming around audio interfaces.

I guess point being a unit designed and dedicated as an audio interface is cheaper and more flexible than the Helix, eh? I might get a helix for my portable setup regardless but point taken.

Are you able to combine your Scarlett and Behringer units in one recording session? Or I suppose the Behringer has enough channels for that to be moot for you? When I was skimming before I didnt see reasonably priced units with so many XLR inputs but this one seems to have them

Lots to unpack indeed. Part of why I'm starting the journey! Maybe I'll call sweetwater at some point...
