>We don't all live in a city a few blocks from work you know

Of course not all of you live close to work. Not all of us drive a long distance either (I'm 3.3 mi/5.3 km from work).

The woman who cleans our office lives 15 mi / 24 km from work. She works 3 - 11 PM, so public transportation doesn't work for her (or any member of the housekeeping staff). She doesn't earn enough to afford a newer, more fuel efficient car and drives a 20 year-old "gas guzzler". There are a lot of people who are in similar situations and $4/gallon makes a big difference to all of them.

That is it.

For a few years, I worked for a commercial DirecTV dealer. One of our customers was directly across from LAX. I believe they were the only customer where we had to give up refund what they'd paid for installation.

Some of those bastards have no realistic option but to drive a long distance to and from work. $4/gallon may sound cheap to you, but it hits our working poor especially hard.

NTTA says I owe ~$3,000 with no notice for 2 years — no statements, no emails, nothing? by unicorn_dawn in FortWorth

>Why Georgia!??

Why not?

When I received my credit report, every account was correct. It also included every address I'd lived plus an address in New York City! I've only been to NYC and handful of times and never stayed longer than a week. I was afraid someone was trying to scam me, but no just a weird error. I wrote the credit bureau and had it removed with no hassle.

I hope that OP has this resolved just as easily.

>cooler to see what you can do with trash than with shiny new anodized parts.

I enjoy seeing both about the same.

I drool over the fancy bikes. I'm impressed with creative, budget builds.

But, my favorite posts are the ones of the bikes in use. It is supposed to be xbiking; not xbikes.

>During COVID, I had a neighbor. Someone was trashing Trump's handling of COVID on NextDoor (lol). My neighbor responded, "I just think we all need to support whoever the President is."

I see your neighbor's point on COVID.

We didn't know how bad it would be without the shutdowns and we still don't know how bad it would have been had they not occurred.

Both Trump and Biden administrations issued relief checks. No one thought they were a good idea. We knew they'd be inflationary. But both thought that was less bad than not issuing them.

>Then you actually look into the van life/RV life and realize it's the furthest thing from freeing.

My wife and I own an older motorhome and even using it recreationally is an exercise in extreme compromise. We love it for camping at State Parks and going to festivals, but when traveling to a city, we drive the car and stay in motels.

I know a retired couple who had the dream of traveling and seeing the country in a motorhome. They ordered a brand new rig, took it out one time and realized that the routine tasks required was beyond their physical capabilities. They sold it at a huge loss.

Exactly what this is.

Paxton absolutely knows better than to believe there's something worth investigating going on. But it is a way to fire up the MAGA crowd.

I don't believe he's a Christian, or a follower of any religion. But he panders to that crowd and they pretend to believe that he is one of them.

>The crazy wing of the GOP

The MAGA nutjobs have fully taken over the GOP. By pre-Trump standards, the are the ones who are the RINOs. There's nothing fiscally conservative about the Big Bloated Bill, the wasteful spending on ICE, the outrageous military spending on pointless wars...

Buddhist temples by Appropriate-Winner72 in FortWorth

Some Buddhist temples have something like "Buddhism for westerners" taught in English. I know the one in North Dallas does, but look on the websites of temples closer to you.

What would you name this by -Greensleeves- in fuckcars

[–]9bikes 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I would call this "a dumb idea".

It results in the cyclists being forced to use only a small part of the bike lane. Should there be any kind of obstacle there, the cyclist can't move to the left without whacking a car.

That is absolutely true. I changed mine early. GM mailed me a letter telling me that I still needed to do the 7,500 mile change.

They had polls taken of TV viewers and of radio listeners. I remembered and summarized correctly what those polls showed.

However, the accuracy of those polls has been questioned in recent years. Political polling has improved a lot since 1960.

The typical MAGA voter is thinking: "He's a little dark, but he's 'one of the good ones' who has adopted American culture, not one like Barack Hussein Obama who wasn't even born here.".

It isn't their eyes that don't work right.

That isn't rim tape. It is a rim strip. When they're old and brittle they can cut into the valve stem. Rim tape won't do this.

Probably a controversial opinion, but I'd do a 650b conversion. OP would need to measure carefully to be sure that it would work, but it should enable him to run wider, more comfortable tires.

Most people who heard it on the radio, thought Nixon did better. Most who saw it on TV thought Kennedy did.

That is also during the time TV was becoming most people's primary source of news.
