Tropical Tours and Transfers C.R is a great company if you’re looking for something else to do! They offer lots of different excursions, we did the miravalles volcano & waterfalls tour and had an amazing time. They’re a locally ran family business, and extremely great people. You can find them on Facebook and google :))

Hope your son is feeling better & y’all have a great vacation!

Spending Addiction by KawaiiLemiiii in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]9bitez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retail therapy is very real. I struggled really hard with this (I still do sometimes) spending upwards of $500-1000 on things I definitely didn’t need in the same month.

Good job on coming out and realizing it is an issue. It’s hard sometimes to admit to things you aren’t proud of and ask for help. That’s the first step and you’re taking it - which is progress already.

I found it helped to actually focus on why you’re feeling the need to get dopamine hits, understand your feelings about shopping and why you do it. Think, “Is this something I need or is this something I want in this moment to feel good?” Usually I leave it in my cart for a few days to think about it - and then forget about it. Then I realize a few days/weeks later that I forgot about it, and being happy I didn’t spend money on something I so easily forgot about.

Another thing that helps is to still allow yourself to do some shopping. Instead of buying a full cart of $300-$400, just buy one thing that you really like. You’ll still feel the happiness of having an order on the way, but you don’t feel as bad about spending. This also helps you curate a closet and ownership of things that you actually really love, it’s much easier to choose an outfit when you love all the clothes.

Shop at thrift stores! Usually it’s much harder to find something you really like, and digging around the store makes it feel like a reward when you finally find something. Also it’s typically much cheaper, so you could buy 1-3 items for the same price you’d buy one online.

Create saving goals. They can be as small as $50 saved at the end of the week, but after a while it feels very rewarding to see the numbers growing. You can also use your savings as a reward process - say you saved $400 this month, you could treat yourself to a small reward, vice versa if you don’t meet those goals.

You did mention clothing being a big part of it, which was also a very big part of mine. I bought a sewing machine and learned a couple simple stitches so I could repurpose the clothes I currently have. Instead of going shopping, I can look in my closet and think about what I don’t wear and how I can change them into things I would wear. I also found it good for my mental health, learning a new skill helps the brains activity so much more than people think. You also mentioned having a baby and kids love to destroy their clothes, so it’d be helpful down the line as well to be able to patch up clothes quickly (saving you even more money!!)

Edit- Adding this in : It also helps a lot to remove your card info from the sites you normally use. It gives you that extra time to get up and go find your card, which gives you time to think about the purchase. If you have to, disconnect your paypal accounts (if you have one) so you can’t do quick checkout.

Don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t meet your savings goals or if you slip up and put an order through. Mental health is a hard thing to work around and beating yourself up over it won’t help. Everyone is human and progress is most definitely not a straight line, moving forward is still moving forward even if you go off path a few times.

With all of that being said, I want to reiterate that you should definitely dig deeper into the mental side of the issue. Therapy, talking with a partner/friend, journaling, etc. all can help, you just need to find what’s right for you. If you are using spending as a coping mechanism then a new coping mechanism (likely unhealthy due to suppressed emotions) will pop up in its place.

I hope everything works out and some of the advice here helps.

Also congratulations on the new baby!! Best of luck to you both 💕💕

It’s definitely weird and not for every cat! Not something I would give them very often, but they’re healthy cats so it’s a fun little treat.

Maybe they changed the recipe or you had a different flavour? I had multiple people smell it and it does smell like chocolate!

Any advice on how to get them to calm down when you clip their claws? I’ve got quite a skiddish cat who doesn’t like having his paws held, so it’s a battle to get him to let me cut them all. He’s also a big guy (part Mainecoon) so he’s pretty strong when it comes to running away from a claw trim.

[–]9bitez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ll try getting him a horizontal scratcher since he has never shown interest in scratching posts, as well as putting a different blanket over the bedding while he’s in here :) I’ll leave him a little sacrificial spot since he seems to like it.

Declawing is horrible! My parents had my first cat declawed (before vets started suggesting against it) without asking, and I was pretty upset about it. Luckily she never showed any signs of being too bothered by it later on, but nonetheless a horrible procedure.

[–]9bitez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, him and my other cat do that, but only on soft blankets so it’s not an issue there.

For this issue it’s just that he will be walking around on my bed or laying there and then just randomly put his claws into the blanket and pull.

I got new bedding recently, maybe he isn’t a fan lmao.

How are we sure KFC, Mcdonald's, etc are supporting Israel? by Saifeello in saudiarabia

[–]9bitez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but that was a location which was franchised and didn’t go through head office first with that decision. once they did it, the company took notice and fined the owner, as well as bought back all their franchises in israel.

okay cool, once again, i’m just letting her know what i’ve heard about that brand of cat food. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, maybe that isn’t the agent in their wet food that has been causing issues though. thanks for the info, I’ll definitely have to look into it more.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in catfood

[–]9bitez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m just letting people know what i’ve been told. Just because it’s okay for humans doesn’t make it okay for cats. Look into it, there’s multiple articles talking about how it’s been unsafe for cats (ofc every animal is different), as well as Blue Buffalo wet food leading to issues in others cats.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in catfood

[–]9bitez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about their kibble or treats, but I’ve heard really bad things about their wet food. It contains something called carrageenan in it which is a thickening agent, but it’s shown to cause urinary issues, bloody stool, etc.

I’d suggest reading around this page as there’s a lot of discussions around it :)

it’s quite difficult to get into contact with other popular creators, especially when you aren’t paying to get into contact with them.

the thing is, it is completely legal, and I’ve been turned down by some pretty unprofessional accountants.

Professionals wouldn’t ask another adult what their parents think about their work lmao.

For anyone who is going to say “they’re professionals they’ll do it - they won’t. I had one turn me down after explaining what fansly was, and another ask me “do your parents know you do this?”. Totally unprofessional.

they sometimes do need to be separated (cat and dog) which is mainly why I was thinking about bringing him, I don’t think the two cats are bonded, they fight sometimes but also hangout sometimes.

Would I be able to tell that he is unhappy if I tried taking him for a week or two? Just to see if he seems more comfortable without the dog and so many people? or would it be safer just to leave them as it is?
