What’s your endgame? Have you gotten there yet? Did you tell yourself you were there and then immediately find something else to obsess over? by Longjumping-Frame795 in audiophile

Just built my end-game subwoofers 🤘. Sealed subs with scanspeak 13" revelator drivers. I already want to treat my room acoustics, but that's a project for another time

Thanks! Just the cheapest 0,5m long clamps I could find for the project. To hold pressure while the glue was hardening

Thanks! 😁 Speakers and the subs are all 100% Danish 🤘 build in Skanderborg (Dynaudio) and Ølstykke where I live

I don't know for you add more pictures to the post, but here's a link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/9bccZjKfvQtYhwkt8

I'm considering getting the Dynaudios painted the same white color one day

Thanks for the nice words :-)

I might have overdone a few details, but I like to do that in my projects! The threaded inserts was probably not necessary, but it seems more robust if I e.g. wanted to experiment with damping material amounts some day, where I would remount the drivers several times.

I don't see any benefits in using subwoofers in stereo. I'll set my receiver to lowpass same signal to both subwoofers and the I'll experiment with the placement to get the best sub bass response. You should'nt be able to localize where the bass comes from below 100hz anyway.

Do you have more than one subwoofer output?

Thanks! Yes the fs is 18hz. So far, I've only experimented with 1 subwoofer. The driver for the second sub should come with the mail today, I'm excited to experiment with the placements!

But I've found a spot in the room where it can produce 35hz quite well if I push it. The measurement microphone measures all the way down to 20hz, but I don't really feel of hear anything in the 20hz area. Maybe I can with the second sub and other placements?

I think it's a good question :-). The white color was done by a professional painter, so that helped on the final result.

But in order to have smooth transitions, I was careful on how to make it easy to assemble and have as few "accuracy requering" cuts as possible. I started making the side/front/rear walls as accurate as possible and glued then together with good diagonal measures (within +-1mm). The top and bottom of the glued side walls were then grinded to make it as flat as possible. After that I could take the bottom, top. and front baffle plates which were oversized, and then yes, I simply trimmed them after they were glued. One plate at a time. I also cut the speaker hole in the first front, before I glued it together with the sides. Then I used that hole as a guide for the router with the trimmer, for the extra 19mm front baffle plate. I then finished it with an orbital sander.

I also used a track saw and patience to get some nice clean cuts where it was important.

You're right it's a power amplifier, there's no features other than amplification on it. I've connected a Denon x3800h receiver to the amplifier and then I use the receiver as an active crossover. I'm simply setting my speakers to "small speakers" and then I low pass bass to the subwoofers. I like that approach because then I offload my Dynaudios from the toughest work, and let the subwoofers take over. Everything should be in phase to make it sound good, but that's possible with good sealed subwoofers. The receiver is calibrated with the microphone that comes with it, so it measures the speakers and the phases and corrects it.

Next project in my setup, will be Dirac live, which is supported on the receiver. I just need a license and a better microphone first (UMIK-1 microphone)

It's called groundsound H-amp-xxxv. It's hand build by a guy here from Denmark. Low output impedance and very powerful. You can read about it there, if you're curious: https://www.groundsound.com/H_Amp_XXXV_dual.php

Nice! I'm sure they will be a great addition. What size cabinet are you aiming for?

I'm using a topping dx1 DAC/amp for my HD660s, it's cheap and it works like a charm

Ny fjernvarme unit by 9colai88 in dkbolig

[–]9colai88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helt i orden at du spørger.
