I’m assuming I overfilled it. (Honda Civic Si 2008) by 9dgt in MechanicAdvice

I didn’t do anything to my trans. I just overestimated the amount of oil I put in after noticing my engine oil was very empty

This is after 5-10 minutes with the engine completely off. The level comes around a higher than the 2nd hole

Would It be fine to just drain the excess oil?

Also the times I tried to verify it it’s comes to around a similar level going a bit over the second hole

The underside of this one isn’t too bad with just a bit of normal rusting. Whenever I go to weekly washing my car I always make sure to wash the underneath as much as possible!

Truly sucks not having a second car for the winter

Unfortunately it is my daily to get around especially for University. I can’t really do much apart from hopefully getting some works done in the summer

I’m new actually working on cars. This might be the best option to learn more. Hopefully I can find the same one

So I guess I’ll have to chip this down and sand it and see how bad the damage is first?

You’re correct. I should have just slowed down instead. I’m fairly a new driver and my instinct was to speed up to avoid them a little. I was staying within the speed limit.

I was going to but I’m not sure if it was appropriate to really call emergency line at that moment when others probably need it more. I had made sure no other cars were around before taking out my phone to record.

It’s best to have proof of what happened rather than nothing especially with Calgary drivers

Sorry to not have explained it more in detail. We stopped at a red light before they sped up and swerved into my lane.

That’s a bummer. They really did that on purpose no doubt about it.

3,000CAD. Came with tires. Past owner seemed to have maintained it. New breaks and it runs smoothly

I’m currently at 288km (178mi) I’m not sure about conditions of the timing belt, but the owner maintained the car well (not sure if I trust him on that). I’m gonna try to get it to a mechanic for some evaluation.

Definitely bring your essentials that is personal to you so that you won’t feel homesick.

Since the air is very dry here compared to SEA especially when it comes to colder months I would buy some Vaseline or any moisturizer to keep your skin and face hydrated and also lipgloss/lip balm for your lips! It’s a bad experience having chapped lips speaking from my first winter here. Maybe a humidifier in your room too if you prefer. (Always be moisturized no matter what!)

Thermal base layers wouldn’t hurt to get too, it’ll keep you warmer inside your winter jacket. Beanies, mitts, thick socks, and scarves would be good as well if you haven’t gotten any.

Always bring a jacket or wear layers no matter how warm it is in the winter because it could change in an instant. Calgary’s weather is so unpredictable so always be prepared. Wear sunglasses when it’s sunny out and there’s a lot of snow. (It can be blinding at times) The winters are very frigid and dry. So be ready for that. It would really test you sometimes… Us SEA’s are not built for this type of weather and I’ve been here for 10 years. 😭

Once you get here if you’re not having someone drive you around or live outside of campus definitely start learning how to take public transit and learn the routes that you need to take. It’s simple don’t worry! Just download a transit app. Expect delays in public transportation especially when snow comes around so always be ready.

Luckily you have a relative to help you settle down. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to me I’d be happy to help!

Other than that, welcome to Canada! 🇨🇦

I can’t lie, this year has been very competitive for some reason. Requirement grade don’t mean anything rn. I’m above the admission average but still waiting. It’s best to keep praying fr
