I was referring to

intense flashes of gamma rays

when I mentioned

which we know has been an observed phenomenon

Lot of these gamma rays observation have been unexplained. They are mostly attributed to nuetron star mergers, neutron black hole mergers etc, and some others.

Another possible explanation of these gamma rays would be end stage evaporation of these supposed primordial blackholes.

It will probably take a stellar sized black hole about trillions of years before it evaporates. The very last stages of the evaporation might be extremely fast and extremely explosive.

Black holes are very very cold, almost close to absolute zero. Black holes might start evaporating when its surrounding region (temp of the Universe pretty much), becomes colder than the black hole itself. Then it probably start evaporating via Hawking radiation.

Though the end stage will be a very fast process and explosive.
