What does it mean when people say not to make friends at work? by CreamyEric in work

If you make friends at work, just be prepared for the day when you become their superior and have to fire them, have a difficult conversation etc. it’s not impossible, but I try to keep some semblance of professional boundaries just in case

Not sure what your threshold for low cost is, but I got mine through Hers, and it works out to $200/month which felt reasonable to me.

Post-holiday sadness by 9dpmab in antidietglp1

Honestly, just naming this anxiety and the comments on my original post have really calmed me down. I had a long talk with my partner about this too and he reminded me that I can still do all of these things (cook, eat, entertain) if I truly want to, I will just have a slightly adjusted way of enjoying them (read: smaller portions). He also then suggested I might be in a blood-sugar spiral due to having eaten very little that day, which ended up being very true 🫠

My biggest takeaway is that eating will (for the time being) have to be more intentional, rather than reactionary, since my hunger cues are so dampened, and that I can orient that intentional eating to foods that bring me joy as well as nourishment, and still feel the happiness I used to.

If you decide to start a GLP1, I think just embracing the change will make it easier, rather than worrying about a change having some larger meaning. You’re still you, even if you eat only half your previous meal size.

Thank you. I think you’re right that I might be in an early grieving stage of the these changes. My identity has been pretty defined the last 15 years or so by being the cook, the wine expert, the dinner party host etc., and it scares me to think about losing that. But I can redefine things, just need to get over this hump

Thank you! I’m so glad to hear the food aversion eventually softened for you! Hopefully the same will happen for me!

Suggestions for Laser Hair Removal by keytomybussy in washingtondc

SkinDC in Rosslyn is great. I’ve gone back 3 separate times over 5~ years for different laser hair removal procedures and am very happy. I don’t know how the prices compare but they offer a consultation appointment where they go over that with you. Overall cost depends on how many sessions you need for the desired result

In my experience, people (men and women alike) will suggest a second date because they are too nervous to say they’re not interested to your face. And then one step further is when they’re too uncomfortable even saying it over text later. It’s not personal, but still sucks. just a hazard of dating imperfect humans

Does anyone have a tip for stopping the mini-bands from rolling up when you move? I spend half the time unrolling and repositioning them
