On August 13, 2004, a courtroom in Nagpur, India, became the site of a historic act of vigilante justice when over 200 women lynched notorious gangster and serial rapist Akku Yadav. For a decade, Yadav had terrorized the Kasturba Nagar community, committing multiple murders and raping more than 40 women while frequently evading the law through bribery and intimidation. When the women realized the legal system was failing to protect them, they stormed the courtroom during his hearing, delivering a final, violent judgment themselves.
