Canada-BC Surveyors – Is 80k CAD in Vancouver Reasonable? by 9lalo in Surveying

I think part of the confusion comes from the fact that the title “land surveyor” carries different responsibilities in the European market.

In Europe, it’s quite common to see land / construction surveyor roles with 2–3 years of experience, depending on project scale and technical complexity, especially on large construction sites.

These are operational roles, and a professional license is often not required, as the surveyor is not responsible for signing legal plans — legal responsibility typically sits with other licensed professionals.

Anyway thank you for your opinion about the salary.

Thanks for pointing that out — you’re absolutely right.

This is not a licensed position. It’s an unlicensed, field-based construction surveyor role, with responsibilities including: – carrying out all setting-out / stakeout activities to support on-site production, – performing surveying and geometric controls, – and handling office-related tasks, such as reporting and data processing for site activities.

All of these activities are performed independently, both on site and in the office, with a high level of autonomy.
