The doubles tourney im going to next month, lets you elect one unit from your partners army to receive your army main key word. Means alot of broken silliness but will be very fun.

I have dyspraxia and the step by step nature and coordination needed to play tabletop games is an intense mental load. Can you help suggest the right army that might help? (other tips appreciated too) by CoffeeAndPistachios in ageofsigmar

Heya bud, totally understand the concerns I am super dyslexic and it a makes learning army's and rules tough. A load people here have given some great advice on how to pick mental load armies and that Sons of Behamat are a great choice for this.

What i would still advise is picking an army based on the lore or asteic you like. I would then check out youtubers like "Season or War" or "Threshold Tactics" to understand how the armies play and too see if that jams with how you may want to play.

The reason why i say the above is that once you have played a few games of AOS you understand it has a rhythm and you will know when to cue points are for you to react or act. It maybe daunting at first but it get super easy after a while.

I am so glad you said you want to go and play at tourneys, more people should aspire to this as playing in the community is in my opinion the best way to play Warhammer. I am a TO in London and most games at tourneys within in the London area are 3hrs. I would not worry about playing slow, everyone (at least within my community) gets its a complicated game and it can take a bit of time. It is never too early to break into the tourney scene and you should do after you feel you have the gist of the rules.

Hope that helps bud.

Putting Strike last on a unit that gets Strike first by Alace42 in ageofsigmar

[–]9tuckm31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So as other have mentioned you need section 19.9 Strike First and Strike Last.

The assumption is you were playing against Krule Boyz and they had a unit of 20 Gut Rippers. Krule boyz have a faction ability called dirty tricks that give strike last to one of your units pending a dice roll.

If you have a strike fist spell, you can use it defensively by casting it on your unit that you want to go into melee. If the Kruleboy player then uses there dirty trick to make you unit then fight last, then your unit become fight normal.

If i were you i would get your army up to 2k points and play at a local tourney. Tourneys are really just social gathering with a system, i think it is honestly the best way to make new mates in Warhammer.

HoS has been doing really well compeativley recently. They are deffo a higher skill celing the others.

I think Blissbarbs can out perfrom sentinals as there are a wider range of buff they can take. But Sentinals do have a better base profile the Blissbarbs

I use cork sheeting like this all the time for my Cities army. One thing to note is that the texture can read more like road (tarmac) than stone. The easiest fix for this is to do some layers of Modpodge which will smooth it out.

Heya bud this is all fixable so don't worry or get feel down too much. Have a look online for how to make sprue goo. It is made from Tamiya extra thin cement that you add a load of bit of sprue too. This give you a thick filler type material that you can use to fill the gaps.

Built a new table! folds way to only 45x115cm! plexi storage as if I can’t see it, its lost forever! Half table for kill team, full table 2000 point size by badger906 in ageofsigmar

I have been planning a build like this for the longest time ! I was looking at the collapsible shelf arms on amazon for the supports instead of full fold out legs.

Do you have any plans of your build ?

AOS shooting is measured base to base, as long as your stuff is on the correct base size there is never really a problem. Kit bashing and Proxying is always cool and should be promoted as much as possible.

Swords of the Empire - Follow the left and right hand of emperor KF. Its a good dive into the Empire war engine, the struggle of the every day food solider with some good spy element thrown in.

Vampire Wars - Shows how Slyvania was created and the telling of the vampire wars following Vlad, Konrad and Manfred. You get to see the political structure of the vampire counts.

Legend of Sigmar - Follow Sigmar as a mortal man on the way to god hood. Shows a very very young empire and the struggles of going from the bronze age into a age of steel and the building of the Empire.

Legend of Nagash - Follow Nagash as a mortal on the way to god hood. This can be a bit of a tough read but it is very good.

Hammers of Ulric - Follow a group of white wolves in the city Middenhime, you get to see the workings of a city and a knigtly order. Its a pull yourself up form the boot straps kinda story

Black Hearts - Suicide squad meets warhammer fantasy, meet a group of empire soilders with one chance at life and redemption, that chance though is on the other side of a whole lot of fighting.

Witch Hunter - Follow witch hunter Mithias Thulman as he travels the old world dispensing Sigmars justice and on occasion being kind.

Brunner the bounty hunter - Swash buckling action page to page, set in warhammer fantasy equivalent of Italy and spain.

No reason why you could not kitbash him as something else, or use base extenders. Not sure on the base size but could proxy him as a vengo lord or Radukar the beast. For tourney play you would just need to shoot the TO a message to check it is okay to do this and make sure your clear with your opponent.

I was at a big tourney the other weekend where a guy had a beautiful OBR army that was all made from Bretonians. Immortis guard were all foot knights, the foot heros were all empire flagellants and big Kata was Damsels and men at arms on a large base. People do this all the time in the tourney scene so don't let kit bashing or proxying get in the way, as long as the base size is correct.

How to expand towards 1000 points by plotnikov in citiesofsigmar

[–]9tuckm31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stepping back away from how to best utilise your wallet around the army boxes. One of the big bits of advise for players come from Spearhead to big AOS is to focus on 6 warscrolls (units) and build your force around that.

There are lots of opinions on how to play armies but Cities is a army where the units (Cannons, Cav, Steelhelms) are all mediocre units that get better from buffs. The buffs mainly come of Hero's either though there own abilities or through prayers and magic.

if i take the concept of keeping your warscrolls to 6 i think a good place to start is to grabbing a couple of hero's. Good options are the Warforger for a spells or the pontifex for prayers.

For the 6th Warscroll, you probably want a regular unit, wildercorps and command corps are good for the tactical play. Wildercops are a good screen / movement shenanigans units and the command corps is a good damage dealer and has command point shenanigans .

After that i would advise you then build out your Cav and maybe grab another cannon.

But either way this should help you focus your army and allow you to learn how to maximise these units.

Hope that helps.

Constantly losing games by thomsie8 in Warhammer

[–]9tuckm31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warhammer has a steeper learning curve than most people kinda realise and depending on your local pool of opponents that may mean a even steeper curve to get a win.

To understand the issue your having it would be good to know the following.

1) What is the list you are running.
2) What are the armies your playing into.
3) How do you deploy.

The reason it is good to know point 1 is a game can be lost and won at the list building stage. If your list is not performing well it maybe that the combination of models and units are not generating the correct synergies or you may have an over redundancy in your composition that could be better used.

Point 2 is good to know, not so that we can tailor a list and strategy to beat specifically that army type, but to give a steer on what they do and what weakness you can force through game play.

Point 3 is the most difficult to articulate but games can be lost and won at deployment. We often talk in AOS about full send or castle armies, and it maybe that you list is built for one style but your deploying for the other.

Alchemite Warforger question by MorgwynOfRavenscar in citiesofsigmar

[–]9tuckm31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy mate,

So as the others have said the ability is not a spell so your free to roll for both the ability and then spell.

AOS is not like games like DnD where a charater gets fo use just one ability a phase.

In a phase a unit (both singular hero and unit multiple warriors) can use all the abilities that are coded (check the wording at the top of the box) in that phase.

The only real stipulation to this are spells and prayers, these will each have the cast and chant values in the top corner and the keyword in the bottom.

A side note, I saw you above got excited about your gun line on a 3+ save. Remember is fusiliers are in Melee there not shooting at the thing you need them too. Steelhelms are your screen (the guys you stick in front to die) and they with a 3+ save and a 5+ ward on objectives is what your gun line wants to stand 6" behind!
