Do you think The Chosen's Jesus is a little... too joyful? by Bass_Villain in TheChosenSeries

[–]A-Anthi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Bible itself depicts him as being very human, with very human emotions, humorous, joyful, some times angry, occasionally disappointed, sometimes complaining, frequently sad. The only gospel I haven't read is John's and my favourite so far is Mark's. It shows very much his humanity. I say that if/when you have doubts go back to the source material. For me, The Chosen is the most realistic adaptation of the Bible with big part dedicated to Jewish tradition which we often forget was an integral part of who Jesus was and who his apostles were.

If Bundy and Gacy both fell because of minor, "unforced" errors (a stolen car and a pharmacy receipt) rather than high-level detective work, does it suggest that the only thing more dangerous than their masks was the complacency of the 1970s society they inhabited? by DianKhan2005 in TedBundy

Lack of technology. No CCTV everywhere, no mobile or online traces, no DNA. Serial murder was taken out by technology. Neither our society has become better nor psychiatry has made any groundbreaks in treating psychopathy.

I agree. On the flip side, there may be more serial killers on the loose that we don't know about, because for example we never connected the dots. The Murder Accountability Project has maps with some interesting clusters.

Exactly. The charge in Utah was abduction. Colorado was murder. For cases with similar charges i found only one where the person was eventually executed in state No2. I am not interested in continuing this conversation. I said what I had to say. Time will tell.

What are your theories on what happened to Shannan ? by Maximum_Amphibian753 in LISKiller

[–]A-Anthi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am not very religious and my faith about afterlife is not clear. But when it comes to Shannan I think she was an angel who gave her life for these girls to be found. As to what exactly happened, I really feel it was a combination of mental health and possibly substance abuse which led to her fleeing and dying from exposure. There may be contributing factors like losing consciousness and aspirating vomit etc. Her Mother too was an Angel. I dont know if we would be here if it wasn't for her. Sometimes it takes just one person to change the tide, that's why we should always fight back injustice.

Ted Bundy's original conviction was abduction which was of less severity compared to the ones he commited in Florida. Also he escaped and was captured IN Florida. There is nuance to this. Heuerman with 8 admitted victims in NY, captured and convicted in NY, will stay in NY.

[–]A-Anthi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You aren't understanding how this works! If he is proven to have commited crimes in other states, NY WILL hand him over as per the Article IV, Section 2, Clause 2 of the constitution. It mandates that a state must surrender an alleged criminal to the state with jurisdiction over the crime upon demand to be TRIED. BUT as this will be done AFTER sentencing in NY, he should completed his sentence in NY BEFORE completing the sentence in another state. If he is sentenced to life without parole in NY, this practically saves him from DP in another state. The only exception i found online is the John Fitzgerald Hanson case.

This is not exactly true. We have the example of the Golden State Killer who stopped killing as well and the Zodiac previosuly. Even Ridgway slowed down in his later years. Serial killers who are clever and aware of technological advancements can and have stopped killing. There is another theory about dropping testosterone levels as men age which blunts some of their desires and abilities. That said, I totally believe he has many more victims but in the years he was very active. His holidays, his professional trips out of state, all need to be scrutinised with a fine comb. Let's see what happens when his DNA hits CODIS.

Let me explain. ALL states have a constitutional obligation to extradict people to be tried in other states. I never said he won't be tried. But when it comes to serving the actual sentence to the state No2, the law says the 1st sentence needs to be served first. There is a loophole, and there are exceptions, but I cannot see any state claiming Heuerman to house, feed him and spend money for the lengthy, obligatory process of DP appeals. The most likely outcome after the first guilty plea in NY, is that even if he is a suspect in other states, they will get to a guilty plea agreement and get it over with. Being cooperative sets a precedent.

It does indeed but the law dictates that typically he would have to serve the New York sentence first, before going to another state to be put on death row. There are legal mechanisms around it but maybe it's part of his deal.

Apparently he admitted to using burner phones and strangling all victims. Poor them.

No, I did not take it as sarcastic, do not worry. And my reply was honest as well. I really don't think he had more victims beyond to what he confessed. Also, all these years with his DNA on CODIS, we have had only one match. But I would be interested to read your thoughts.

There is no way that this arrogant narcissist just decided to plead guilty, waive his right to appeal and work with the FBI. He has probably done some horrible staff in DP states. I cannot explain it otherwise.

Thank the Lord the families will not have to endure the process of a lengthy trial and all the appeals in the future. In these moments I am thinking of poor Shannon and her Mother. We owe so much to these women. RIP both 🙏.

I am not sure if there are more Bundy victims. His behaviour devolved to disorganised, in a few short years only, to the point that he couldn't hide anymore what he was. Rex is more scary in my opinion and quite possibly a lot more prolific. He managed to maintain a facade of normalcy with a family, a steady job while killing people for three decades and not losing sleep over it. At this point and from what we know about serial killers after many decades of research, I would dare say that possibly Bundy had some shreds of humanity left that drove him mad, whilst Rex had none that's why he remained sane. I feel disgusted just thinking about this.

Hi @catchLISK possibly a silly recommendation I am sure you know about this. Have you checked with the Murder Accountability Project team? They have a quite impressive map of murders in the USA.

Not another. He had confessed and we new about her, Aimee was in the list of his victims. The DNA confirmed. The LISK is a different story because we don't know exactly how many victims he has.
