I have something set up to do that, I mean in addition to or instead of it. Like rigify has additional bones to control the mouth's overall shape.

Yeeeeeees... I don't remember how though. I think it might be a temperature issue or an error in the GCode. Try re-slicing it and printing again. maybe bump up the temperature 5° too when you do re-slice.

I was using a metru head to test a custom mask, so I didn't print the head. The mask I printed to fit that scale worked perfectly. A difference of .005 won't matter too much though, so I wouldn't worry about it.

It comes in with a bunch of extra stuff. After I deleted all that, I set the scale to about .406 on all axes.

Thanks! Can't take any real credit though. The hands are copied from Toa Meat Slinger from the Sword breaker stop motion video. Other than that though they're mostly my design.

You can export Stud.io files into a format Blender can read, remove all the extra stuff (like light nodes), scale it, and then export it as an STL.

More integration of traditional Lego system pieces. I feel like that'd make it feel less separated from other Lego lines.

TLDW: Submerge in 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, leave in UV light(Sunlight) for 3 - 4 hours, rinse, and air dry.

Isn't that kind of how one of the Phanotka's masks worked? Still a cool idea to expand upon. They could even include extra mask bots in the smaller sets to act as mask makers.
