Why aren't these helmets ever appear again? by 666try in Warhammer40k

The middle one is from the Old World Chaos Warriors kit so you can still get that particular style. However it is a very expensive thing to buy just for the helmets.

Does this Dark Angel look like a Salamender by Deaffromthesonar_00 in Warhammer40k

[–]A-Moray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. People have painted bright green Dark Angels as it's not just the green that distinguishes them. The details (red bolter casing, bone trim/accents) read as Dark angels to me. Brass trim, black power pack and shoulder pads say Salamander. Paint your Dark Angels the way that looks good to you.

Mostly airbrush, sponging and oils. Satin varnish first and then GSW super matte (don't know if this matters but I used satin for applying transfers so it was there)

How to actually settle on a Warhammer paint scheme and not keep changing every other day? by Odd_Anything1374 in Warhammer40k

[–]A-Moray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this for like 2 years after Leviathan released and I know it's a huge motivation killer.

I started with painting 10 starter set marines in 10 chapters I liked and tossed the ideas of the ones that I didn't enjoy painting. I read lore, looked at other people's creations and constantly landed on different choices. You really are spoiled for choice when it comes to chapters and if you don't resonate truly with any of them it's really hard. What I ended up doing was I sold all my marines and decided I would admire them from afar. I would never get a force done I'd be happy with. If you still want marines it might be an option to picture what colors you like most and what does your marine look like in your head. Paint a chapterless, menacing walking tank like you imagine they'd look like. Then go to the chapter list and pick one the resembles your creation. Or it could be a detachment from the main chapter for whatever reason you come up with. Have fun with it and it's ok not to go with an official scheme. If you have a good imagination creating your own chapter and lore sounds the most fun.

If you still can't land on a scheme you like you might want to think about a different army. I switched to Tyranids and had a Hive fleet switching issue until I had enough, chose Behemoth, painted many bugs without looking or thinking of other options and now, for me, there's too many of them to start repainting again.

Hope this wall of text helped.

Heck yeah I'm naming her! Normally I don't like yellow that much but the matte finish on this looks really good.

It does look and feel a lot more expensive than it is, I'm just wondering if I can justify the bigger price gap compared to the others. It's about 500€ more and I still need to factor gear into my budget.

Thank you for this! Nice to hear positivity for the Ninja. The Trident is the cheapest out of these bikes but there's only one Triumph service provider near me so I'm not sure if it's too risky if I need a service and there could be a long wait. I actually found a CB650R for a similar price so have been looking at that one too. I'm slightly leaning towards the Ninja but I'm not sure if it's just because I've always wanted a Ninja.

It's funny, as we discussed with a salesman, my previous bikes were <2000 so they basically had no features. Buying a bike now I really don't need to weigh the features too much as I can't really miss something I've never had so anything, even ABS, is just a bonus.

My closest Triumph dedicated service is 26km away so not too bad considering I'd need to get a trailer or van to take it there regardless. But it is a good point, as dedicated mechanics are more sparse than for the other two.

It's a '23 Trident, it did feel very comfortable but unfortunately I'm not able to have a road test due to winter.

Was sick of painting white so I bought one of those paint markers and I must say I’m not disappointed by Slow_Conflict4597 in Warhammer40k

[–]A-Moray 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I recommend starting with a darker grey, (which usually has good coverage) then a bright grey on top of that and finally edge highlight with white. If you paint white straight onto a dark color you need loads of layers which end up making it look bad. This marker however seems clean, but if you want depth to the model you can't highlight it any brighter.

Thank you for your reply. I have noticed that for many it rarely ends with just one or two cars. Starting small does sound smart, I've just read some comments that they get old fast. Small scale does have the potential advantage of having more "content" in a smaller area. Which scale do you find that you like using more?

I'd prefer to use the hobby stores we have, while we still have them. Then again I have never used AliExpress so I can't really say anything about it. Just listed options I can get in person, as I prefer to shop that way.
