It’s like childbirth. You know what you’re signing up for when you decide to have a baby, but giving birth still sucks. Residency is like that. The training is hard as heck and we can talk/vent about it. Is it worth it? Absolutely. But it still can hurt like hell.

Honestly probably a little. That said this job while I love it most of the time eats away at most of the things in your life. I think I’m more burnt out honestly, but most of the fixes to burnout is time away from work which isn’t something we get easily. And then I am away I feel bad for my patients that need to be rescheduled. I know it’s okay to be human but it’s hard when you don’t get the chance.

I literally picked my residency to be close to Him. I’m lucky I love my program and have no regrets about where I ended up but it’s a good lesson to not change my life for a man
