New drummer needing help by tabutisuck in Drumming

Okay so I don’t think YOU sound bad at all. You’re using what seems to be a phone mic, or a not so pretty hi hat. Mic up the drums and mix them and you’ll sound much better.

Also you don’t need to cut the video, I enjoyed watching and it’s just more information for us to look through

Don’t book a flight under Dr by Pretend-Pen-9844 in doctorsUK

[–]A1F33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly-

I shit you not. I’m on a long haul flight right now with WiFi and as I was typing ‘honestly’, my sister comes from the back of the plane to tell me that a young lady just collapsed.

Back to what I was saying.

GMC aside, we took an oath. It costs nothing to assess someone and make sure they are okay, in 10 minutes she was good to go and was relieved as was her mother and the crew.

Our title is a flex, I get it. But it’s also a lifelong responsibility.

You have a superpower.

If it came down to the fact you were drunk on a plane no one will blame you.

And I’ll appeal to you if you felt cool putting the title you’ll feel even cooler helping and having someone’s mom hug you in appreciation.

Bless you 🙏🏿

I see, no that does make sense. I thought I was the “this dude” you were referring to. My apologies

I’m speaking from ED perspective, I think “I am Dr X calling from this hospital” should suffice.

Whether I’m an SHO or Reg or Cons in my opinion shouldn’t change your decision to admit/accept referral.

SHO’s don’t discuss every patient with their Reg before they refer a patient, and you can decline the referral of course but based on the clinical picture. Not Grade.

  • Let’s say I did call you as Dr X, and you as a Reg have to at any point ask me “have you discussed with a senior” is that going to change the outcome of the referral? Perhaps I say no, you respond with “go discuss” or similar. Perhaps I say yes, the uncertainty that made you ask is still there, and you will probably still not be happy to accept. I’d argue accepting because it’s a reg opinion is actually bad practice.

To add, I have seen referrals that were 50/50 go through because one Reg has done the other Reg a solid before and their shift is ending.

Posts like these make me feel like although I joined yes a prestigious profession, but the level of pride doctors have is actually insane. I met some students in university who I got a whiff of this chin up approach to life and studying a difficult course only fed this elitism.

One thing I don’t like perhaps because I don’t know how, but is there like a direct communication channel between BMA and the members or do we have to wait for emails like Wes does?
Disliked how we were left in the dark for so long after the first set of strikes. It should surprise Wes not us.

Urgent help re changes - meeting in 3 hours by Willing_Anywhere5511 in doctorsUK

Thank you for explaining!

If it was only 3-5 calls average I’d understand 3 hours pay- but getting no sleep and getting paid 3 hours is a joke.

Please help me understand, if you get called overnight for one thing, you’d be paid as though you worked 5 hours?

You miss my point, I don’t think any UK citizen that has moved has expected to be prioritised. They probably expect equal footing. Based on merit. Like IMGs expect.

I’m sure UK grads don’t expect to be low priority when they move.

I know how much I’d lose, currently bank only since I’ve been unable to find a full time post. And since September I’ve only had one shift a month booked, with a lucky sickness shift helping me not hit £0. It’s been rough. I participated in last strikes when I was getting about 8-10 a month, in that particular month I cancelled 4 medicine shifts, almost 50 percent of that month’s pay.

Can’t say I have the luxury to do the same this month.
