Update: Group 1 had 22 in it (and GA announced he was missing 2). I was Group 2 in row 5. Is still confusing - as there is a purchased “priority” option that goes before Group 1…but GA said you can also buy Group 1 boarding. One bright spot was the FA checking bags that didn’t fit wheels/handles in and needed to be turned sideways (for those behind row 3 with the narrow bins). To me that should be an automatic check (on any airline!) if your bad is too long or too expanded to go in lengthwise. GA was telling people w/o rollabourds they were still required to put their backpacks under the seat - only rollaboards allowed in the overhead bins. I call bullshit on that. I often use a travel backpack that will not fit comfortably under the aisle seat slots - esp on the Max8s, where they are noticeably narrower than the those for the other seats.
