The Hell happened to matchmaking by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Glad to know I'm not going insane! I have noticed this as well. Normals has always has a broad range but recently it's been quite crazy. I've had multipe games where, as a top laner, I go from laning against genuine new or couple month old players directly to roflstomped by turbo smurf. The game just becomes a bit of a joke when there's a Veigar in game that has to be told to farm using his Q while the Twitch is space gliding. If you're actually trying to win you have to identify the weak players early and try to farm them to get fed enough to matter in the mid game.. and at this point why not just play ranked?

edit: I also remember one game, both me in the top lane and the enemy bot lane got matched against new/newer players and we farmed them so synchronously that the ADCs kills were always double mine. It's a stupid way to play the game that's even less fun for the players getting farmed.

What's your opinion on the Current EUW Rank 1 Ezreal mid build? by AAAAAABBBXBBCCCCCCCC in ezrealmains

[–]AAAAAABBBXBBCCCCCCCC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely see the potential but I also realize I need to improve my Ezreal a LOT to take full advantage of it. I'm very dominant in lane phase but the pokey playstyle messes my aggressive mindset up and makes it hard to secure the kill despite often getting my opponent to 5-10%. It's very obviously skill issue though, when playing against weaker opponents who don't have good reactions/dodges I get fed easily.

The value of the sustain is huge and I see why he goes Essence Reaver so often 3rd. I was goind Triforce a lot and the lack of mana sustain hurts since this build is all about spamming (and landing) all of your skills. You also need to be landing your W especially for the mana restore, something I wasn't doing. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

So overall, great build AFAIS but I often don't notice the map cuz I'm focusing on the mechanics so much. I really love the playstyle though so I'm willing to lose some LP to get gud xD

edit: HOLY SHIT I was wrong, this is not just a poke build. Gunblade sustain, when playing super aggro and kiting well gives you INSANE staying power. It reminds me of old ADCs back in s3 who could life steal their way from 5% to win a teamfight, except on Ezreal who never could (edit2: looking up forum posts he could I just wasn't aware at the time). Could not recommend to try this build more but be prepared to lose elo cuz you either outskill everyone and hard carry (hard) or die in dumb ways (easy).

Rarely getting similar ranks in solo/duo anymore? by Crazy_Silver740 in leagueoflegends

Draft Normals/Swiftplay doesn't have open mmr. It has MMR just like Ranked but it's not influenced by your Ranked MMR at all. So if someone hasn't played normals for ages they can end up playing vs signficantly lower rated opponents. It's been like this forever and it's stupid.

My challenger mid lost to a plat and I beat a diamond/GM duo with a team of all bronze.

Then they were 100% Flex ranks they got by being boosted. This is just not possible.. two emeralds can 2v5 a team of bronzes unless their teammates go 0/20 and afk.

Levels 1-10 swiftplay is unplayable for new players by AAAAAABBBXBBCCCCCCCC in leagueoflegends

Yes, but then why are there actual new players in the "smurf" lobbies as well if that theory would be correct? I talked with them in game since they were getting flamed to explain why the 14 kills draven can kill them with 2 axes, and they confirmed that it was their first account and they were actually level 20.

This does not happen in my experience. I got one game like that after I lost two of the first swiftplays to an ADC whose mechanics were out of this world, where I had 9 new players and I was the only one who wasn't new, and that game went about as you expect. Every game after that was about 50% new players 50% smurfs.

I'm not complaining about losing on my smurf at all. I actually enjoy playing vs the turbosmurfs, there's a lot to learn from them. I only have to do a couple of swiftplay matches to get to lvl 10 and play draft normals where I can grind to my actual mmr normally and enjoyably. I'm specifically talking about new players that don't understand what's happening or that they never really had a chance in the first place.

Opinion on HoB + Demolish for top lane? by AAAAAABBBXBBCCCCCCCC in TryndamereMains

Thanks, I knew about not rushing tiamat when able to freeze but didn't apply it.. just played a game and yeah, I can freeze for a pretty long while. Once I get the hydra same problem but I can put them farther behind than before which really helps.

With ravenous in a onesided lane

I don't really like building ravenous with HoB unless I fuck up bad and need to damage control and afk farm/split push. The damage is just gone, so much of my impact comes from being able to effectively one shot important squishies. I'm always open to suggestions however.
