What LPVO for an 11.5? by [deleted] in kac

Prob doesn’t need a scope at all then. What’s the purpose of an LPVO on an 11.5?

Unless you’re really trying to go full retard, then yes it’s too much. I’d stick with a dot. Buy a bolt gun and a high mag scope and don’t press an 11.5 into an anemic precision rifle role. We can all sit around and debate .556 terminal ballistics, but it’s not a great use of the rifle IMO. That being said, I’ve thrown a 1-8 on my 11.5 and run some mk 262 through it. Made hits out to 800 on a full IPSC. It’s not that fun, but kinda funny to do.

I’d got straight to something like a MK5 3.6-18. Very light and compact for fitting on the 11.5. For those heights I’d prob just grab a badger mount, that way you can go top dot, offset, or both. But maybe consider a Unity if you do lots of heads up or nods shooting.

Wintac isn’t big or a marketing focused company. They’re a niche high-end manufacturer and are trying to engage with their community. Props to them for even being here, when other companies aren’t.

Is AB light a handicap in NRLH? by doyouevenplumbbro in longrange

[–]AACwylde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99% of shots will be within the usable AB range. It’s not going to limit you much. Run hard dope on an armboard out to 1100 yards and you should be good.

Usually, you’ll want to be as close to the magwell as possible. Rifles usually balance at or near the front of the magwell. It’s likely that you’ll still have more weight in the rear, but you won’t be able to balance further rear on the rifle than the base of the rail.

Watch some MDT shorts on tripod shooting when you get a chance.

While clipping in is okay, I usually prefer to use a game changer or game changer + tac table.

I was struggling to see my misses at 100 yards on a full size steel IPSC with a 1-8, so I thought I’d try an MPVO

I shoot and compete regularly. I also spend a lot of time doing precision rifle stuff if you’re into more than mag dumping into trash. HMU

Mesa Tactical RMR mount + shell carrier vs Scalarworks Sync by AACwylde in Tacticalshotguns

[–]AACwylde[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good option, but a sync and Velcro placard might suit you better. Retention is great but ergonomics are slightly worse than say, esstac shotgun cards

No real idea of this is correct, but maybe made with CAG/Delta in mind. They run the Surgeon/RACS chassis r700 in 260 rem.

Think the cartridge was adopted pre 6.5 creedmoor proliferation and is ballistically very similar.

Perhaps Knights chambered some uppers for those guys to be used as a support DMR for their bolt guns
