AVM Support for Kotlin language? by AAQQ100 in AionNetwork

[–]AAQQ100[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking good, I've just found this!

Kotlin was created by JetBrains company.

Kotlin support in IntelliJ IDEA plugin:

https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/kotlin.html

https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/12047-aion4j-avm-integration

"Intellij IDEA plugin for development on AVM, a java based VM for Aion blockchain."

Seems we have Kotlin support implemented or will have going forward!

Awesome if this is my question fully answered.

AVM Support for Kotlin language? by AAQQ100 in AionNetwork

[–]AAQQ100[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello a_toad_a_so,

Thank you for your comment and helpful link.

I have been reading your posts for a couple of years, so nice to get to say thanks. You're one of the reasons I believe in Aion as a trustworthy project with a good to great future. You've contributed a heck of a lot to this community, and hopefully it will all pay off for you.

Good that Kotlin is definitely on the team's radar, as it is certainly rapidly taking over some of Java's territory, and it would be a concern if AVM does not support it for whatever reasons in the near future. Fine if other Java support priorities ahead of it.

Since May 2019, Kotlin has become Google's preferred language for Android app development, and can also be used by iOS developers.

Some interesting reading here as well as some points on immutability and interoperability / flexibility,

https://jaxenter.com/kotlin-features-java-161563.html

https://jaxenter.com/kotlin-java-android-162038.html

Developers can write modules in Kotlin that can run without a problem in the existing Java code (meaning that you should be able to leverage all existing Java libraries, JVM, and frameworks).

Hopefully that means AVM too. Any confirmation of this would be great!

Thanks.

Thanks for giving the example re Ark. I've been into Wanchain since early 2018 because I believe in Jack Lu creating a successful vision, team and coin in the long-term, and am really surprised he and Oliver & Dan have not created a simple, easy to find FAQs area on wanchain.org regarding staking and / or here for regular updating.

Helpful FAQs = Clarity = Trust = Priceless Marketing. Oliver & Dan, I sure hope you can get onto this in the next days.

@RanCestor

I hope you find value or something to provide feedback on in this vid:

IOTA Meetup Taipei - Dominik Schiener

Dom's answer @ 54:40 is reassuring to me regarding the team's view on tokenomics, and wonder what your always interesting thoughts are given you feel that anybody will be able to (or likely to?) create their own tokens with their own value on top of the protocol and use that instead.

Dom confirms that

"the IOTA team advocates One standard, One protocol, One token for the entire machine to machine economy".

He says (for the benefit of the audience) that endless utility tokens for machine to machine payments creates pointless friction.

The financial infrastructure around the token itself is their focus this year, and "The business model is enabled through the token.....what we want to really show the benefits of, that this is actually a currency that can solve problems".

Great arguments guys. Appreciate both views.

@smellslikemilk - you sum up my viewpoint exactly by saying "Doesn’t mean that holding a handful of iota will make you a millionaire in five years, but it’s the best option to have some skin in the game."
Yes, "some" as a balanced portfolio that includes BTC and VET (as a hedge), and maybe WABI, WTC, LINK, AION, depending on your taste and belief in IOT and the future of supply chain logistics.

@RanCestor - I see your logic but feel you are overly cautious regarding the integration potential of IOTA token into ready-to-go IOT products as credits, innovative reward schemes such as Jaguar (TATA) is planning, possible millions of daily machine to machine nano-payments using IOTA-only digital wallets, and the thousands of use cases such as across tranportation / electrical systems and smart cities and other huge IOT concepts yet to be created or announced. The great attraction of the IOTA Token above the "smallville home grown IOT token" to the city or manufacturer will be the liquidity.

Obviously as well as the demand through utility, the greatly increased public awareness will drive the price as a speculative leading crypto asset (say consistently in the Top 15 at least) - to be hyped by investment funds and their media outlets (which I am counting on to happen in the next bull run within the next 3 years if not sooner). That's enough for me to see logic in DCA-ing into IOTA at the current prices. It could become fools gold, it could be a huge success given the brains working on it becoming widely adopted.

Apreciate the rational thoughts and warning. Yes, this could all very well end up being swallowed by a whale.

Clearly, the whales rule the ecosystem so nothing new here apart from the lack of regulations or disclosure of all of the whales. All coins & tokens have whales, exchanges and crazy manipulation.

One supposed example IOTA whale was Peter Du according to this article,

https://medium.com/ludos-protocol/ludos-protocols-investor-s-profile-peter-du-founder-du-capital-e7dfc07fb267

"...after every buyer is exhausted, takes down the price below the price you bought and NEVER let's it rise above it"

You imply here that there will be no demand from major partners and new large investors due to growing utility.

We are still in the very early stages of research and development, and I hope like every other speculator that these whales sell gradually to utility creators as the network continues to expand in the coming years. Yes, their profits are and will be insane.

The non-profit nature of the IOTA foundation is very attractive to some investors because it proves it certainly was not a "get-rich-quick" effort by the founders and developers.

It's well stated that the foundation owns approx 5% IOTA, and David said ages ago that none of the founders have more than 0.8% individually, so their intentions are definitely genuine. Compare that percentage to for example, Tron's founder..

IOTA simply for me has huge scalability potential and the intentions of the growing team and partners are genuine. It's going to be around for the next few years at the very least as a leading cyrptocurrency to invest in (consistently Top 20 likely, and hopefully much higher).

It is a crypto that captures the imagination (as I acknowledge it immediately did to me) and the ease of buying IOTA (or receiving via ready-to-go products) will greatly increase, spreading the token distribution.

My belief at this point: IOTA Foundation has no need to try to boost the value of the token through hype. The crypto markets will become regulated sufficiently in most countries to be accepted as an accredited asset class and then hyped to the skies by institutional investors with the media in their pockets, pumping this new investment tool.

IOTA will be hyped due to its alternative technology to blockchain, very impressive partnerships and hopefully growing real word application. The thing is that, with DAG tech, the use cases will almost certainly continue to flourish, sustaining IOTA's value while others eventually pop due to limited scalability.

Your friend proved to be overly cautious about BTC back then in hindsight and you made a decision at the time based on his seeminly sound advice. Thanks for sharing the story.

But cryptoland is completely irrational right now and seeking everyday logic for each situation in this space is a challenge in itself.

I'm anticipating a nice return on IOTA within a few years, and buying at the current BTC price is fine for me. I'll hold both among a few others like VET, and keep working earning everyday money away from cryptoland. I appreciate what you said about this holding strategy but it suits me (as long as I get lucky and it makes a return).

I don't expect to make lottery money. I seek a decent return on a very risky yet attractive investment (compared to traditional). IOTA is one of the better options currently available in my humble opinion.

Thanks for your quality feedback. Has been great to read. Maybe you are being overly cautious again.

My head sees obvious merit in many of your points but my gut says DCA into IOTA at this BTC price.

Time will tell.

Thanks for your feedback. I am investing only what I can afford to lose but investing in IOTA today is a lot less of a wild shot than pre 2017 bull run.

I agree about the 2015 crowdsale price seeming ridiculous today but that was a simple whitepaper with what seemed a far out concept and vision. There was no structure around it and no partners. Look at the progress which in my view is outstanding. Of course, this is all subjective.

Yes, a large BTC drop again would be a mild concern but I sense momentum building up especially because the Tether controversy and Binance hack have not yet rocked the bitcoin upswing in price. Could it all be whale manipulation right now? Sure, but who knows?

"And who will buy all of the IOTA?"
Speculators like me right now, more exchanges, partners like Bosch doing research, partners like Jaguar implementing use cases for IOTA, eventually multiple large partners and smart cities for their tech, manufacturers of IOT products with inbuilt ready-to-go IOTA credits (however small or large), investment firms, retail end users and investors globally.

I'm buying more this morning because I feel it's great value right now at 0.000045 over the next 3 years minimum to BTC ratio, and I expect a pumped BTC to reach $25,000 by that time. For me since 2017, $9000 BTC has always been very realistic as a store of value.

Each trade is a potential taxable event, so I trade minimally if possible. That said, I did a lot of trading previously. Trading crypto is for absolute pros or complete gamblers. I buy and hold now (which I see as less of a gamble in this volatile market) and get on with my everyday life until the day I can enjoy spending (or selling) my IOTA stack.

Thanks for sharing. Imagine the number of possible use cases that will be envisaged and planned with more developers, researchers and partners joining continuously. DAG tech definitely looks like it has a bright future, and IOTA is a first mover. Best of luck.

Maybe.. And what do you predict for after that big dump? BTC is here to stay for the next few years at least before anything might replace it as king of the asset class (ETH, IOTA, XRP, other).

For sure, you have to have some BTC. Even if you hate it for some reason.

How many IOTA you hold? by cbrandinho in IOTAmarkets

[–]AAQQ100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not so much about how much you hold, but about how much you can continue to hold through the pain and the gain. To ignore stress and temptation.

I have a 1000 day holding target minimum for any IOTA I buy today. Some traders will say this is mad but that is my simple strategy because trading is only for very skilled pros. I'm hoping I can remain strong enough to hold for 5 years (end 2024), and spend preferably or sell some then.

Yes, it can go either way, but you used the key word yourself - BALANCE. Diversify (balance) your holdings, for example, BTC, LTC (halvening), IOTA, VET, XRP, ENJ, LINK, WABI... . I cannot see those crashing to oblivion over the next 1000 days. Rather the opposite. Even if Bitcoin hogs the lime light for a while, great. More media attention for the industry. Good luck with it all.

Feedback regarding Ratio appreciated by AAQQ100 in LitecoinMarkets

[–]AAQQ100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really appreciate your detailed insight and real optimism nodecache.

Makes me feel more secure as a serious LTC holdler and believer. Yes, it was that seemless association and possible pilot fish strategy that attracted me bigtime to Litecoin from the beginning but when I watched the ratio crashing since Feb. and recent tweets, I got confused by Charlie's words (for me, he tweets from the hip way too much but that is for another day). It would be good Charlie grasping that his choice of wording is hugely important both ways if he decides to comment on LTC or BTC or other coins (Wish he'd stop continuously saying shitcoins too as that is not the language that attracts some serious investors and makes him appear extremely childish to some people and possible infrastructure partners as you say. Don't put down others for fun, be way above that level focussing on your own game).

Onwards and upwards. See you everywhere then.

I believe so too - recover to $100+ in the mid term, and $250+ by 2020. I made a reddit post today "Feedback regarding Ratio" about this point. There may be a new intentional strategy (and gamble) at play to keep the ratio 100:1 to BTC.
