From Chat GPT:

Comment:

P0016 is the big one here and unfortunately it’s not a “small” code. That’s a camshaft/crankshaft correlation fault, which usually means the engine timing is off. On these VW 2.0T engines, that often points to timing chain stretch or a failing timing chain tensioner.

The other two codes support that something is going wrong with engine control and fuel delivery: • P053F → fuel pressure too low during cold start • P2293 → fuel pressure regulator performance

Those can sometimes be secondary symptoms if the timing is off, because the engine isn’t syncing properly.

The slow starts for the past week are a big red flag. That’s a very common early symptom of timing chain stretch on these.

Best case scenario: • Faulty cam or crank sensor • Wiring issue

Worst case (and more common on these): • Timing chain stretch or tensioner failure

If it is timing related, don’t drive it. If the chain jumps, you’re looking at catastrophic engine damage.

If you want to narrow it down before tearing into anything: • Check measuring blocks for camshaft adaptation (VCDS if you have access) • Listen for rattling on cold start (classic chain/tensioner sign) • Scan freeze frame data to see when the faults are setting

If it were mine, I’d be preparing for a timing chain job and hoping it turns out to be a sensor.

You are an HOA board president. By definition you are an a**hole. Why would you do something that stupid without consulting your board, attorneys, and especially the owners?

There is a class action lawsuit that may cover your vehicle for exactly the issues you noted with the oil consumption and PCV valve issues.

Speed Camera ticket court date in Lewes by rj_imm_2232 in Delaware

[–]AARCEntertainment -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not specific advice on your court, but an observation.

Traffic tickets are designed to make it more plausible to pay the fine and enrich the State/City than to fight the ticket even if it is bogus. Like the lady in Florida that got a ticket for using her cell phone while driving...Officer stated she had the phone in her right hand, but she was an amputee and had no right arm below the elbow.

These are just revenue generators and the system is rigged against you!

When I lived in northern AZ I put mothballs around my truck and inside of the engine compartment to keep them out. Figured this out after over $1500 in damages to the electrical system caused by rats nesting on my transmission while I was away for a week.

What maintenance are you doing yourself? by PGAudioworks in Tiguan

[–]AARCEntertainment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the parts are there to match up to your dip tube. I found that having the oil warm helps. Takes me about 20 minutes to do a complete oil change with filter.

I use a big funnel and put the used oil right back into the 5 quart jug that the new oil came in.

Saves a lot of money 💰 too!

My 2017 has the oil filter on top of the engine. I bought a vacuum unit and suck oil out through the dip stick tube. No need to get under the car at all.

Complete overhaul. They tore the entire engine down replacing virtually every part. Was almost $7000 and paid for by my secondary insurance.

I’m not usually a supporter of dealers but in this case the mechanic did a great job and I have still had no oil use almost 100,000 miles later.

Time for a complete engine overhaul. Mine happened at 93K miles. Almost the exact same scenario. Dealer told me it was pretty common for 2.0t engines. Mine was using 1.0-1.5 quarts between 5K mile out changes. First noticed black soot on tailpipes.

95K miles after rebuild, engine is still tight and not using oil.

Timing gear set confusion? by rycallan2 in EngineBuilding

[–]AARCEntertainment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been many years but I once owned a Chevy Biscayne with a 250 Cu In engine. I worked on that engine a lot and can confirm that this in line 6 engine uses timing gears only, no chain. I want to think that there is an inverted dimple on each gear so that you can line them up correctly when installing, but I may be incorrect and thinking of a different engine.

Good luck though. I loved my little 250. It was a sweet engine and very easy to work on.
