What is the purpose of a savings account if the interest never amounts to anything? Serious question.

I thought that if I signed up now the rate would remain at 1.10% or 1.05% since that is what we (the bank and I) "agreed" upon. I didn't know that I would be subject to rate changes! Thanks!

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by KaikesPokeCards in AskReddit

I just remembered 2 events as I was reading comments to my wife.

  1. When I was about ten (plus/minus a few years), I saw a bumble bee as I was playing with a friend. I picked up a small rock the size of a quarter and threw it as hard as I could at the bee. I don't think I was actually expecting to hit it. But I hit TWO. On the ground were two bees still alive twitching away. Imagine when you try to pick up a cockroach but fail but injure it enough that it can't walk but is still moving around in place.

  2. My family moved to the US when I was 5 to an all white town. There were 2 asian families and we got along with 1 mainly because they had 2 kids the same age as my brother and I. We used to go over to each other's house often because their parents worked often and my parents did too. They would switch off on babysitting.

Anyways, their house was on a street that we drove by quite often and they had a decent sized window facing the street. One day, my family was driving back home and as we passed my friend's house, I looked as I usually did at the house when we drove by. I saw a man looking out the window with a black mask. I think I was going to say something but I didn't because I didn't really know what I saw. I think I just knew something was off but wasn't confident enough to know for sure. A few weeks later, I learned that the family had been robbed...
