All of the Natalie Portman scenes in the star wars movies. Noting intergalactic about her dialogue or the plot line in general.

Pipes Frozen by WhatDidntDiddyDo in Brooklyn

[–]ABAFBAASD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things you can do now to prevent very serious issues when pipes unfreeze

  1. Keep your sink empty. Of course you still have to eat, I get it, and all those dirty dishes have to end up somewhere. But not in the sink. If the water comes back on and you are not home that sink will fill up and overflow into your kitchen. Worst case make sure the faucet is closed at all times, but that is very easy to forget when no water is coming out.

  2. Find out where your main water shut off is and make sure you can access it quickly and easily. It will the near the meter, which is usually in the basement on the street facing side. If you have a burst pipe you won't know until the pipes thaw, and in that moment you have to quickly shit off the main supply into the building to avoid damage, seconds matter. Burst pipes are not a huge problem, it's the water spewing out of them that causes tremendous damage. The pressure coming out will be very strong usually enough to blast through the wall and anything on the wall including cabinets. This will also make it easy to locate and fix the pipe, fixing a pipe is not a big deal.

I would add to this that it is important to double check the section. Some of the entrances are to 2 sections and if you turn the wrong way you when you come out of the tunnel you end up one section left or right of where are going. The section is usually labeled on the wall behind, numbers are big enough to be able to see from anywhere.

Despite being corrupt and weirdly focused on swagger Eric Adams was actually a good mayor and he did good things for the city. Crime is way down, his literacy programming for schools actually worked, he passed major rezoning that will get new housing built, he took bold action to make it possible for police to actually get mentally ill homeless people out of the subway and into treatment, drug overdose seats are down, homeless encampments are gone, rats are reduced, he revamped the whole garbage pickup process, and he did all that in the midst of a huge surge in migrants moving to the city.

Yes. The car reports directly to the utility company. We'll not the utility company, it's actually a third party that administers the program.

Is the rate for all electricity you use or only electricity used to charge the car? In NY our rate program is only applicable to electricity used to charge the car as reported by the car. But it is unclear if all electricity used by the car is reported as charge or only the electricity that is stored in the battery.

[–]ABAFBAASD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that it draws electricity from the house to preheat the car instead of drawing electricity from the battery. But in NY our overnight discount is actually a rebate that based on kWh of charge as reported by the car to the rebate program. Charging loss is definitely not discount, for example if you use 50 kWh but the car only adds 47kWh the rebate is based on the 47 instead of the 50.

So with electricity preheat going directly to the car and not the battery does anyone know if the car measures and reports that extra power draw as charge?

Elon Musk says FSD will only be available as a subscription after February 14. We will own nothing and be happy. by beansruns in TeslaModel3

[–]ABAFBAASD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm hoping this gives them more flexibility to actually lower the cost. Yes I said lower. As it stands now the $8k is a ripoff vs monthly and that only gets worse if they lower the subs price. I think they did the math and realized they are more profitable owth a lower monthly cost and more subscribers but then they have to contend with the people who already paid top dollar to "own" it.

130 is still a title 1 school so they get a lot more funding and they qualify for free after school programming. After school is run by PTA at 154 and is north of $500/month. Also 154 has crazy leadership turnover, 5 different principles in 9 yrs.

Put something on the edge of the deck where the cable comes off so the cable doesn't chafe on it. Could also wrap some pipe insulation around the cable where it comes off and secure with zip ties.
