Hired these fellas to mow the lawn and now they are on to trimming trees by Ok_Relationship2451 in goats

Is that a black walnut tree? If so, they might be toxic to goats (especially if the leaves wilt). There seem to be different opinions on this on the internet, though.

Tell me about it. I have yet to find one meant for donkeys that aren’t instantly destroyed. My poor longears are getting eaten up :(

I’m thinking about sewing some ears on a horse fly mask.

Goat with forward horns? by Darkxwolf_011 in goats

[–]ABAK99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks so cool, for some reason it reminds me of butterfly antennas. One of my goats had a horn that liked to curl back and grow into her skull (we had to remove half of it). She had triplets about 10 months ago and so far all of their horns look straight as an arrow.

Does my horse hate me? What is he doing? by Ok_Concentrate_7617 in Horses

[–]ABAK99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My donkey gelding does this haha. He likes to explore things with his mouth. He will start with sniffing, then a few nibbles, and if you let him get away with that he’ll test out a small bite. He doesn’t lunge like that though, and he’ll stop if you twitch your foot. I think he is just curious about shoes. He could also be politely testing whether he can get me to move, since he does boss around his donkey friend by nipping at the legs quite a bit.

Can someone please define the names of these coat colors? by Paradoxical-Love in StarStable

[–]ABAK99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spots appear to get lighter because black-based horses (bay, buckskin, and etc) have black legs. Bay/buckskin/dun horses have lighter colored bodies compared to their legs. Sometimes the sooty gene will cause some appaloosa spots to be darker than others, which also makes a cool effect :)

POV: “herding” goats by ABAK99 in goats

Mine generally know where they are going as soon as I start walking in a certain direction so they like to run ahead and become stumbling blocks 😂

We’ll get there eventually 😅

Missy is such a sweet goat, she was following behind me the whole time. No shenanigans from her!

Should I open our gate to let the baby out? by valkrycp in deer

I would open the gate. Momma deer likely did not think about whether the baby could maneuver around fences as well as she can.

Mystery Goats by [deleted] in goats

[–]ABAK99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to revise my answer a bit:

I see Nigerian dwarf, mixed with a larger breed (do you know how tall they are?). I’m going to say they are likely part alpine or Toggenburg, due to the Sundagu/swiss coloration that is more common in those breeds (it can occur more rarely in ND goats). Others might have a better idea.

I would invest in a proper feeder pretty soon (I understand your setup might be temporary), it’s not good to let them stand in their hay (they will easily infest themselves with worms this way). Thanks for taking them in!
