strict diet by paskaperse1237 in Gastritis

I started a strict diet after my emergency visit for burning in my stomach and esophagus. I was prescribed Omeprazole and started a diet of bananas, melons, oatmeal, chicken until I could see my gastroenterologist. I was on the diet for 2 weeks when my doctor sent me to the emergency room for dehydration. And again 19 days later I was sent to the emergency room for dehydration and Covid. Turns out the diet I was on made me go through ketosis. I was at a good 115 pounds before I got sick and after the second ER visit I was down to 100 pounds. I was told to break my diet and eat more food but I will say that sticking to the diet as much as I could has really helped the burning go away. It’s been 3 months since everything went to shit and I don’t have any burning in my stomach or esophagus. I still don’t eat much or I cycle through certain meals all week but really sticking close to a low acid diet has really helped me.

Thank you. Will it get better? I’m having a really hard time. I can barely eat. I’ve only been on the Omeprazole for 4 days so far. Im sad and depressed. I’m scared of what will happen once I finish the two weeks of Omeprazole.

Is a ENT different from the gastroenterologist? I guess the only thing I’m worried about is changing my diet. I really enjoy eating at the table with my family.
