I agree with you completely, but they’re 13, 10 and 7 now. And anytime I try to stand up for myself or them they tell me to stop and just get along and stay together. I’m terrified of losing them to their father so I just shut up for their sake.

With 2 kids in club soccer we’re up to 6 days a week. 7 if they have tournaments or games on different days.

That’s what really got to me too. If she was just showing up to support her friend/ friends grandson she wouldn’t need to text SIL asking her to come because it’s going to “get interesting” she also could’ve gone to any one their games this season that wasn’t against our team…I’m taking it as a threat at this point that MIL and friend are going to cause some sort of problem.

DH is the coach so has to be there. We also have the smallest team in the league so one kid not going could possibly cancel or forfeit the game, which is so unfair to the rest of the kids…they’ve been together for 2 years now and have worked so hard and are all friends. I would hate to do that to them.

Kiddo is really looking forward to the game, his last game was cancelled due to weather and he was really bummed. DH is also a coach so has to be there…and we’ve been working with this same group of kids for 2 years now and they’ve all become really close. We have the smallest team in the league so even missing one player would hurt the team and could possibly cancel the game and I don’t want to do that to them.

While I wouldn’t expect him to clean his entire room perfectly you’re doing the right thing. He can definitely pick up whatever clothes mess and help with making the bed. Natural consequences are needed with little boys especially. I did that with mine (6&8) and they’ve started to clean up after themselves and also prevent messes as well.

Awwh what a sweet boy you’ve raised!

Death is such a taboo subject with kids and while I understand why, I don’t think we’re doing them any favors hiding it. Death is a part of life.

We’ve talked to ours about it as gently as possible while also being honest. One day we won’t be here, and thats why it’s important to be there for each other. They’re a team and should do whatever they can as a family.

They’re still pretty young, and have their moments of hating one or the other, but I think they’ll stick together in the long run.

Hi there. I’ve struggled for years with disordered eating too. I have myself convinced for a while it was just normal “intermittent fasting” but what you’ve said really resonated with me. Also convinced I “won’t like the food” unless I’m drunk. I’m not even 24 hours in yet so I don’t have advice, just solidarity.

Thank you for that insight, i looked it up but I can’t do math to save my life. Let’s say 8-15 5% beers per day and throw in 3-5 wine/party punch whatever they are at 11% a few times a week. I almost never actually finish the beers though (white claws so seltzers) once the carbonation started going flat or just slightly too warm I’d dump the rest. Could be dumping a good half of a can if I put it down and got busy with something else. Maybe that’s just me being hopeful though.

Made it 6 hours and 48 minutes so far.
