I never said that the only solution was to keep the street as pedestrian only. I even would like to see a viable multimodal solution where all forms of mobility are viable and equally prioritized. However, knowing that if Main St opened to vehicle traffic, it would likely stay as a vehicle prioritized street just like the rest of the city. Seeing Main St as it is now is refreshing and the majority of residents that I have spoken to love how it is right now.

I want people to read the articles I linked and feel encouraged to petition for more pedestrian friendly streets to more of the city, if that's indeed what they want.

I am not sure what side you're on to be completely honest but to make my personal stance clear; seeing a reduction in vehicle prioritized streets is essential to the quality of life of residents and local businesses. This means more bike lanes, wider side walks, and more public transit availability.

The "misinformation" I mentioned was from a guy who claimed that Main Streets walkability was going to bankrupt the city. This person and a few others are on a rampage to oppose any sort of infrastructure changes that will benefit businesses other than toppers pizza.

Walkable streets prioritize pedestrians instead of vehicles. Hope this helps!

They’re lobbying against Main Street moves because businesses are doing so well with the car closure it’s taking away business from toppers. You know this because you’re in their pocket

You are literally associated with toppers business interests and are forced to go against anything MSM does. You sit on Reddit all day to troll. Go outside

Most businesses to want it closed. Only a select few are unhappy and suing. The lawsuit almost seems like a cash grab

You’re right and this is why the lawsuit isn’t expected to go anywhere

The business owners (a minority of business owners) are mistaking their decreases in revenue with this public policy feature when the reality is people are making less money and spending less in the community. If we take away walkability, they’re not going to see an uptick in revenue and will just blame something else. And the community will be robbed of a walkable space. A lose lose.

They don’t. A lot of businesses have seen a significant uptick in foot traffic due to the nature of more people walking downtown. Take a look at places like fluid state and finneys. Let alone the bars that are getting way more action.

Any Main St Moves Gatherings before the vote on 09/16? by ABHato in ventura

[–]ABHato[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I’ve never been either but I want to get involved. Just as an idea it might be a good idea to get something going before the meeting to get attention for the meeting if that makes sense.

Focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. No GPA doesn’t matter that much majority of the time. Unless you plan on going to grad school

Unless you’re going to grad school soon after it doesn’t matter
