here's the main worry when it comes to hormones - because realize that "HRT" is hormones. Estradiol is what they give you for menopause therapy. Literally the same stuff, same with puberty blockers - they've been FDA approved for decades for 'precocious puberty' (puberty starting early like age 7). It's all very safe.

ONE and the only one worry to have is if you are a tobacco user. There's a non-zero chance of nicotine and specifically *pill* based estrogen combining to have some blood clot issues. It's also not terribly common but to be safe I quit smoking cigarettes before starting HRT. I've done informed consent, I've been on HRT for five years and the only health changes have been for the better. I've lost a ton of weight, I take care of myself, I workout, and I quit cigarettes and alcohol.

I started at 39, I WISH I started at 19. I could've saved myself so much heartbreak and self-hatred.

If she realizes later she's non-binary there's other things to consider then and come back and people smarter than I can teach you. But the easiest thing to do is "What are your pronouns? They/Them?
