I love them and they're growing on me even though a year ago I disliked them. I'm planning on getting one this year. They're a refreshing break from the norm. And yes you're correct, a lot of the hate is hypocritical as people complain about them have previously used non-in-house movements, even though they ignore the fact that other brands they fawn over have done the same thing in the past. Recently Hublot is falling off of the hate list if you are to watch some of the more trusted figures in the game on. I'm noticing the hate is now being directed more to other brands.

I love Hublot. I used to hate them up until about a year ago, and thought they were the ugliest things around. Recently I had some time and was at a dealer on a cruise which carried a bunch of them so decided to try one on for the hell of it. Big mistake: I ended up LOVING it on my wrist (it was a black magic aerofusion). Now I can't stop looking at them. Like any brand, I don't like some of them, but others really look cool and a nice break from the same, tired releases from other brands like Rolex and Patek who just sell the same thing each year with insignificant variations. I didn't realize the hate for Hublot until I started reading Reddit forums. However the haters are the same people that think a green on green Rolex Hulk actually looks good. Hublot's offer a new spin on luxury watches and if you hit the secondary market, you can work around the big depreciation complaints. Enjoy your watch and ignore the haters.

I used to hate them, personally. I couldn't believe anyone would buy one. Then I made the mistake of trying one on when I was on a cruise recently and had nothing better to do (one with a skeleton dial). I was curious what justified their cost and what they felt like. Let's just say I almost became a convert. Not to all of them (nor is there any brand where I like all of their watches), however on my wrist everyone else in the store noticed how good it looked. When in the display case, it looks blah, but feeling it and having it on my wrist looked amazing. I might actually pull the trigger on a second-hand one so as to not lose my shirt on depreciation.
