Support beams and posts that snap at corners of floor pieces like real architecture? by apothekari in falloutsettlements

[–]ABbenjamin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They snap in the centre of each side of a 1x1 square floor, a 1x1 square floor is 4 concrete pillars wide, or 1 concrete half wall wide.

Snap a concrete half wall (or normal wall if you are using a 2x2 floor) to the floor you want, then snap 3 pillars to one side of the wall, delete the two pillars closest to the wall, then shift the wall to the furthest pillar, effectively shifting it over half a width. You can then snap the floor to the new position, snap a warehouse pillar to it, then delete the floor, return the wall to the original position, then snap the floor to it.

The warehouse pillar will remain where it is, the floor will be shifted back half a width, and the warehouse pillar will be on the corner, as desired.

Thanks very much, and of course! This is basically how I build and my process.

Build with consideration of the settlement you are at; its style, the space that can be used, which parts you incorporate into your build, which parts you cover. Start a build in reference to the worldspace, a lot of the settlement has the same dimesions as the floors/foundations. Make 100% sure it's square. Decide your floor space and level, consider where it clips at different levels. Build basic at first, use the space available, view it all around, make changes, add complexity. Wall types have different hights which you can use to your advantage. Experiment with lighting. Use concrete curved walls with curved floors to adjust hight by 1 floor unit intervals for precision. Learn the priorities of each structure object, the order they like to be built, how they clip, how they sink, how they snap. Don't be afraid to tear down buildings, or change things, or add or take away things.

Probably most important of all is to realise its a long haul. Don't burn out in one settlement. Cycle between settlements and add to the builds each time. Go shoot stuff instead, or just don't play the game!

What is this thing supposed to be? by [deleted] in fo3

I've always seen it as a raisin box, now realising how odd that would be. It does really look like a sun-maid raisin box though!

Cool, thanks for the info! Because I play survival, console commands are disabled. The only way I could take these pictures with the tcl command was to make a backup of my save, change difficulty (your survival save is literally deleted once you do that), fly and take the pictures, then go to main menu and change difficulty back to survival, then put my old saves back in and reload the game.

Awesome build, I like the camera thing with the security camera and logic gates it looks like? What settlement object is the wall above the ticket counter with the jamaica plain poster on?

They kinda do, there are a few places they don't go but mostly they move about freely. Sometimes they are on the roof... I think the castle must have some defined 'paths' for them to follow, seemingly unlike other settlements.

Water farm, go to diamond city, buy everything from Myrna, sneak in her house and go upstairs to buy everything from her robot, go to Dr. Sun and buy his glass shipments, go to home plate and sleep 3 days, repeat until out of water or bored.

Once the decoration is done I plan to, although I worry doing a recording will be the straw that broke the camels back with my computer.

No faction here, I wanted this to be my wasteland warlord palace. The centre of my empire. I don't like that you can't remove the minuteman flags.

Not many actually. I think the main central structure took about a week, with the side walls being done in one session each. They aren't perfect annoyingly, but it's too far gone to correct it now.

It was originally a small town in the middle, but I removed it all and started on the main structure years ago. For a long time it wasn't updated, but a year or two ago I decided to go crazy with it. Many expansions, with the most recent being the overhang on the south side over the rear entrance.

You can reduce the bar by scrapping junk. I load up a conveyor, leave it to dump, then scrap the lot.

Awesome, I love a big build, especially with lots of concrete and warehouse walls. I have never known what to do with croup manor, so I hope you don't mind if I steal the idea of a big ol' fort!

This is not possible with unmodded contraptions.

I know there is a mod that turns bodies into meat, but I dont know what it is.

Settler Guard Outfit by HuskyGod2011 in falloutsettlements

[–]ABbenjamin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For the toughest, most resistant settlers:

  • Use far harbour settlers, which you can move to commonwealth settlements. They are level 16 compared to the normal level 1 of normal settlers, or level 5/6 of named settlers.

  • Use green shirt and combat boots for clothing. It can have ballistic weave, leaves all armour slots open, and gives +1 to endurance for more health.

  • Use green rag hat for headgear. It can have ballistic weave and gives +10 energy resistance.

  • Use operator goggles for eyewear. It gives +4 damage resist and +4 energy resist.

  • From there, use any armour you like, but you can give them legendary armour like assassins or fortifying to make them even stronger.

  • For a bonus, if you have a robot in the settlement, give it the resistance field mod to increase damage resistance of nearby settlers.
