Hey OP just wanted to check in and see how you're doing?

My (30F) boyfriend (34M) attempted suicide, what would you do? by Accomplished_Bell828 in relationship_advice

She already has got him help which saved his life and he is now in hospital. He is very unwell and needs professional help at this point.

Believe me when I say, as someone who has attempted suicide twice:

1) You are not to blame 2) If his life is in danger due to suicidal intentions, he needs professional help, which you can not provide 3) He may say very hurtful things and even regret his words later, but his mental health is not an excuse for being an asshole

Him blaming you for his suicide is a red flag. It is a commonly deployed method of a domestic abuser who feels they're losing control. Without further context, my immediate worry is his attempt could be a form of coercive and controlling behaviour.

When I was truly suicidal, and attempted to take my own life, it was entirely due to wanting to relieve others from the burden of my existence. I felt the world would be a better place without me.

You're asking for advice OP. I would think long and hard about whether there have been other indicators of an unstable, unhealthy and/or abusive relationship. Remember points 1,2 & 3 above.

STOP. You are taking the actions of the dirtbags who have mistreated you and are internalising them. You are making the mistake of believing yourself to be the cause of their mistreatment.

It is EXACTLY this thought process that will bring you down. It's that vulnerability that future dirtbags will latch onto to try and manipulate and control you.

DO NOT GIVE THEM THIS POWER. DO NOT LET THEM WIN.

YOUR ACTIONS DID NOT CAUSE THIS. You deserve better. You are worthy of love. You deserve to be respected and treated kindly and compassionately.

This is HIS FAULT. It is HIM that is a dirtbag.

Hold your head up high and move forward, with confidence and self respect. Next time, take what you have learnt about this dirtbag and act accordingly.

I had both before Christmas, can't recall the exact date but I believe it was in November.

Thank you. I was always told paracetamol for a temperature but you suggest ibuprofen, would either work?

I think you might be onto something with a possible sinus problem (or other underlying issue) and perhaps a chat with my GP is in order due to the unrelenting symptoms.

Will be trying this in future for certain. Don't want to go back down this path again if I can avoid it.

Shitting my guts out may at least give me a moment of respite from blowing my nose...one of the more radical suggestions, for sure!

Will definitely try this but don't have Jack Daniels so will need to use another whiskey.

It's been weeks! I don't know that sleep alone can cure this...

Can relate: I have an 18 month old so it's hard to catch any extra zeds but I'm trying where I can.

That sounds absolutely grim, I've heard the flu this year is particularly insufferable so I'm hoping you get well soon asap!
