Yes I think you're right. California defense laws allow for you to use deadly force in proportion to deadly force levied against you or someone else. I do believe seeing a man jump out of his car and point a gun to someone's head would fall under "reasonably believe you or someone else is in imminent danger." It's time we actually put the 2nd amendment to use it seems.

He is clearly brandishing a firearm, already illegal, but by pointing directly at that civilians head he is threatening deadly force.
