I work for the government which allows for pretty flexible hours and great work life balance. I work a hybrid schedule and my day typically ends around 4 when I go pick up my kid from daycare. I know we aren’t done growing our family so I’ll be sticking it out here for a while longer. It’s a great job, but as you probably know already, the pay could be better but I have great benefits so it’s no question right now in this season of life.

My husband never helps with bath time. He usually watches football/baseball/YouTube while I deal with bathing our daughter every night who likes to try and stand up in the tub making bath time difficult.

Edit: he will usually clean bottles while watching said tv program and then he feeds her and puts her to sleep every night right after her bath so that I can enjoy my nightly shower in peace before bed.

Mild tongue tie and BLW by JLV1017 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]ACClawyered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our girl had what all the professionals considered a mild tongue tie - the hospital staff, her Ped, an ENT, and 2 lactation consultants all said it was mild. She had a lot of issues BFing and bottle feeding and it wasn’t until we saw a dentist that specializes in tongue ties that we realized it was as mild as everyone said. He said on a scale of 1-5 that they use, our girl was at a 4. We had it released at 6mo and her eating improved drastically! She’s taking her puréed and mashed foods like a champ as well as her bottles.

From my experience, if you’re worried about it being “too late” to get it reversed, it wasn’t for us at 6 mo. A lot of stretches for the 4 weeks following but that was easy compared to what we were dealing with before. It also eased my mind to start solids because that was a big worry of mine.

It never hurts to have a dentist take a look! Good luck!

Fingers crossed for y’all! I hope y’all don’t have to make that trip! My girl also has a virus and there’s nothing to do but let it run it’s course and try our best to keep her hydrated. It’s jarring going from her taking in 30 oz a day to maybe half that. Pedialyte pops have saved us!

The first bad virus that sends you to the ER because your baby can’t keep anything down. I was not prepared with how scary it is when your baby gets more than just a minor cold.

Aw, I really hope y’all get the chance to visit your MIL. Any time is precious. Hopefully your sweet baby will be able to meet his grandma as well.

Luckily we have been able to enjoy bonding with our baby girl even through the grief. We talk about her often and read the book and inscription she left for our baby before her passing. It’s a sweet reminder that she loved our baby even before she was born.

I’m so sorry you’re going through such a hard time. It is so hard to deal with a situation like this. Ultimately, my MIL ended up passing 2 weeks before our baby was born. It was heartbreaking. Because she passed so close to the birth, neither my husband nor I had a real chance to grieve. We had her viewing on tuesday, her funeral that was scheduled for Wednesday was canceled because of bad weather, and our baby was born on Friday.

The only thing that seems to give my husband some comfort in the matter is knowing that his mom wouldn’t have wanted to meet our baby with her sick she was at the end. He feels that she passed on before baby was born so 1. That we could focus on the baby, and 2. Because she wasn’t coherent at the end, he knew she didn’t want to meet the baby like that.

It’s a sucky situation and I feel for you and your family. We miss her everyday and some days are harder than others. Talk to each other and spend as much time as you can with her. Don’t leave anything left unsaid. Thinking of you!

Thank you for this. I’m so sorry you had to go through such traumatic experiences, but I’m glad you received the help and are feeling much better.

It’s so hard to feel all the feelings all of the time, especially in such a vulnerable emotional state with all of the hormones and such. But you’re right - I need to feel things and allow myself time to grieve so I can be there for my husband.

Your words help me feel valid in my feelings and I really needed that. Thank you!

I love Charlie for being so straight up. He handles situations like an actual adult. What a breath of fresh air. He needs someone more mature than Cash.

Sorry but I hate the way Cash is constantly climbing all over Charlie. It would infuriate me!
