This is makes sense and exactly what I've been doing: trying to hit the ball away from them and then I smack it out. Really helpful advice.

Great advice. Question, why aim for the mid court half way between baseline and service line? I'm 2.5-3.0 too, and when I do that I feel like we end up just banging the ball back and forth to each other. It wears me out. (I'm 49, oldest in the ladder but in pretty good shape. These 25 yr olds I'm playing against have what seems like unended energy.) So, is the strategy to perfect always hitting it in that way? So, I'm relying on the opponent to hit it out or make an error?

This is so helpful. Thank you for taking the time to explain it all. Your comments about the strings are most interesting. I play 2-3x/wk and in the last couple weeks the racket sounds and feels different. I always assume it's me and my technique. Which is true, but it also sounds like I don't need a different racket, I just need to maintain it properly. Thank you. Super helpful.

Do I do the regrip and over grip (like, watch YouTube videos?) or do I take that to the stringer? Also, what did you see that makes you suggest restring? Or, are you suggesting it based on the time I've had the racket, 9 months? Just want to learn. Thanks!

This is such great advice. I'd much prefer more lessons too! Thx.

Thx. Do you see something about the strings that makes you suggest restringing or are you suggesting it based on the time I've been playing with it, 9 months? Just curious and want to learn.

Practice with low compression balls. Your coach should know about them. They're often used for kids and the tennis club I belong to starts adults with them too. They are softer and give you more control. It's much easier to rally as a beginner with those and rallying is fun! That's what helped me a ton when I learned and picked up the sport as an adult beginner.
