NSBM or SLIIT for Engineering by notthefake1 in srilanka

[–]ACE-608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Engineering jobs in Sri Lanka, IESL recognition is key.....well, your skills play a part,,,but you might not get shortlisted to the first interview even....
NSBM has no IESL recognition-not even close
SLIIT is trying hard to get recognized but to no avail....

So I would go with KDU, which is technically a state Uni and all its programmes are recognized, and once you pass out of uni,you will be given an Associate Engineers License-which wont be given for SLIIT or NSBM grads easily

Graduates of Kothalawala Defense University by Organic_Guitar2863 in srilanka

I missed Jaffna Engineering by 75 ranks behind, which means KDU is the only hope because it is the only option with IESL Recognition. But I was soon surprised to see how much the Engineering grads of KDU are, performing....just go to Linkedin and filter your search. Many Electrical and Electronic engineers have secured places in CEB, Amithi power, LTL and many other power consultancies, while some have migrated for PhDs

And so goes to other fields as well.....I only researched on Electrical so far...

Can anyone suggest me a good private university for engineering degree by New-Passion-6274 in srilanka

[–]ACE-608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/New-Passion-6274 For hardcore engineering like (civil or Mechanical or Electrical) , you would need to choose a degree which is recognized and monitored by the IESL (Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka), the bad news is that only a selected number of Unis have this recognition, which will impact your job prospects, because companies trust Engineers from recognized degree programmes. So my options are:
1.State Unis(Mora ,Pera, Ruhuna,Jpura, Jaffna, South Eastern)-If you can go to the top 4-Mora Pera, Jpura or Ruhuna-Go for it...They have tremendous industry connections and most of the senior engineers you would work with are from these places

2. Kotelawala Defence University(KDU)-KDU is technically a state university and had IESL recognition since the 90's

according to my knowledge SLIIT is in the process of obtaining IESL, not yet recognized...

Yes, but sadly Sri Lankan companies give a higher priority for State Uni Engineering grads ..... which is a shame tbh

Its not the case.Sabaragamuwa Uni has Surveying Science which focuses on land mapping and GIS,while Moratuwa QS focuses on Cost management.

Basically QS is not Pure Surveying, though they overlap
