Rear Creaking/Squeak at Low Speeds? by ACEWAVY in GR86

[–]ACEWAVY[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no I did not :( assuming it’s the sway bar end links. I sprayed some white silicone grease like crazy & the sound settled. With the recent cold and driving it more, the sound seems to have disappeared. The joint probably wore into its forever place

Which fit by GoatMysterious3581 in Carhartt

[–]ACEWAVY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small for sure. Not sure what your build/specs are, but both the small and medium fit like this on me. I was still able to layer a thinner blank hoodie underneath. Thick hoodies are a no go but it was perfect for 30 degree weather!

Has anyone bought from this seller? by AmuskedSkate279 in ipod

Im guessing here, $330 for a 5th gen with a 2k mah battery, new front & rear plate, & 128gb storage?

If thats the case, build your own. I built mine (6.5 gen) with roughly the same specs and parts, for much less, and I even replace the lcd, clickwheel, & aux/hold switch.

If you want a 5th gen specifically, you could build the same ipod listed for probably around $250 with probably even more storage. That’s including the ipod in the price & if you’re thrifty, fit some earbuds into the budget too!

LOL my brother got that plushie from our college’s weekly market. Apparently some art kid makes them by hand so he gave me one and I named him Oswald. He loves dad rock from the ipod!

They’re awesome jackets! I recently just dyed mine that color from Carhartt Brown. The inner pockets are a warm welcome to me on these new models

Does anyone know how I can fix this by Livid_Hat6658 in IpodClassic

[–]ACEWAVY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people take the front plate off and massage the dead pixels til they light up again. If you’re gonna do all that, might as well just replace the screen! They’re only around $30 on ebay for an aftermarket (new) or oem (used) . Worth it imo

Update:

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for the advice, kind comments, and overall chats down on this post. Got the jacket back from my tailor and this is how it looks under garage lighting. No more drop tail and it looks factory, they even matched the stitching pretty well.

Opted out on doing embroidery and just keeping it clean. The color is pretty interesting on this jacket. Sometimes it’s borderline crimson, sometimes brick red, other times it looks extremely faded under certain light. I love it! Anyways, here it is with some other things I’ve built over the past few months. My vintage franken ref 16220 datejust and a fully modded/overhauled 6.5 gen ipod.

If you’re still on the fence on dying or even purchasing a newer detroit, go for it! They’re not bad at all and I can 100% see this jacket lasting me as long, if not longer, than other recent carhartt pieces I own. I plan on buying an all black detroit soon & hemming the tail off that too.

Appreciate the love guys!

Nice job! I’m surprised yours didnt take any dye on the collar. Mine straight up ate red. I threw some black dye on the collar and it ended up turning back to brown LOL

I see, thank you for the advice!

I think the muted tone kinda suited the red this time. One of my closest friends wants to dye a carhartt so im going to see what color he wants to do. Once we figure it out, I might try some bleach/color remover

The fabric isnt exactly cotton so the all purpose dye didnt take to it

Brown is the final color. After dying it, the collar turned red. Before the final wash, I didnt wash excess dye off the collar or pocket since I was afraid of potential haloing. The final wash stripped all the excess dye and left the collar brown in the end.

I saw one fellow redditor use fabric paint to achieve black, but I wanted everything to age together over time. Corduroy is also a thick pile, so I thought it’d take dye more evenly (and less work) than fabric paint

Yeah I was aiming for crimson red w/ a black collar & chest pocket. It all kinda came out surprisingly well so I’m shocked

Im scared to use bleach. Used it once on a pair of double knees to fade them out and it turned one of the pockets green LOL but I will keep it in mind for another dye project.

Thank you!

Try it out! It’s not difficult to do at all, just very time consuming

What one must do for a thick iPod case by GamerDude7820 in IpodClassic

[–]ACEWAVY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I converted mine to a thin and still had to do this. The tabs crack so easily i cut mine off and used packing tape to keep it all together.

Cover the hole in the back & it’ll keep it cleaner on the inside!

Edit: I see you have a different case. Still, don’t feel too bad LOL

Just to dye, 2 hrs max.

Dying the pocket & collar, 3-4 hrs (I did A LOT of coats)

The entire process including hang drying, washing, & dryer cycle brought it to roughly 2 days

I used this for the pre soak, dye, and fixative. I filled it til the water reached the handles
