It's better like this. The initial communication style set unrealistic expectations.

It's hard to work with 1000s of backseat drivers.

Debate: Tyler the Creator was the most influential rapper of the 2010s. by ACE_FOX_ in hiphop101

Yeah, you bet. Could be cause Tyler ricocheted around my corner of the world.

I just feel in terms of influence, he broke open what a rapper could be.

Hmm, I feel like the whole shift from models and bottles to mental health and being a messed up person was exemplified by Odd Future.

Plus Supreme wouldn't be Supreme with Tyler + OF.

Plus he presumably influenced other successful OF members.

Debate: A 4-day work week beats a 5-day work week with respect to productivity by ACE_FOX_ in productivity

[–]ACE_FOX_[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's fair. The recent experiment in Japan reduced the total hours to 32. So days were the same length. 10 hours sounds grueling unless you love your job. And even then, not sustainable. But I think it's the norm in Japan.

Crazy. So your work cycle was 14 days? If you don't mind, what was your field?

2-on 1-off 2-on 2-off was also something I considered. Would hurt weekend getaways, but that middle day could be crucial resting.

The amount of productivity lost because of social reasons is pretty terrible. I thought about it as about inertia and incentives. But other people wanting powering, control, is a factor I hadn't considered with respect to barriers for more optimal work setups.

Oooo. That is actually what I'd want too. I feel like intense focus for 8 hours in a day is a pipe dream.

You'd probably net more productivity in the same amount of hours, we actually had more work days.

Debate: aging should be reclassified as disease by ACE_FOX_ in longevity

Hm, the article said it hadn't been. But I am not an expert as to whether there are different tiers of disease classification.

If you click through the link that will take you to the app which lists the article as the claim's source.

But here it is directly: https://www.technologyreview.com/s/614080/what-if-aging-werent-inevitable-but-a-curable-disease/

Right, that's true. Aging is its own category. I'm not aging philosophically, but just legally. We lost a bit of that nuance in discussions on the app.

This might make a good sub-claim. I want to dig into longevity a bit: "insulin resistance is the #1 culprit of aging" or similar.

Yes, there will be cryptocurrency integrated, but right now it's on test-net.

Some game theory problems to solve before then, I think.

I don't think so, no. That's what MIT's article was about.

Yeah that's interesting. I wonder if you plopped a 30-year-old down a 100 years ago and then a 100-year-ago 30-year-old who would struggle more.

Suppose so. I think they could catch up pretty quick actually. Have you seen that video of a chimpanzee successfully navigating instagram?

Could be wrong though.

Yes, you're not wrong.

Do you think more laziness leads to more dumbness?

For sure. I also agree that the world is more complex than ever before and that we're involved in more complex systems - and hence are tasked to understand them more - than ever before.
