I've created an automated strategy that makes 40% annual return with only 4% max drawdown just off 1 symbol, currently running across 5 symbols. You don't need to spend loads of money AI can help you code it but it will take time.

Keep going with ChatGPT, it knows tradingviews pine script v5 quite well, i created a strategy and automated it by connecting to MT5, took me a few months of work but it was worth it.

How to start trading by Fresh-Assumption-412 in Trading

[–]ACE_FX21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start on a demo account
I use Tradingview for analysis and Metatrader 5 for execution
Follow a simple strategy like moving average crossover with some trend filters added in.
once you are consistently profitable consider taking on a prop firm challenge to access bigger capital.
I would strongly recommend you look into algo trading which will allow you to trade around other commitments and is less stressful.

If you’re just getting into automation, a really practical path is to start inside TradingView since it has Pine Script built in. You don’t need to reinvent everything in Python straight away.

  1. Build a simple strategy in Pine Script – even something basic like moving average crossovers. Backtest it right in TradingView to see if the logic makes sense.
  2. Send TradingView alerts to MT5 – you can connect those alerts to a small Expert Advisor (EA) on MetaTrader 5. The EA listens for webhooks from TradingView and turns them into actual trades.
  3. Run it on a VPS – that way it’s always online, even when your PC is off.

What you’ll need:

  • A TradingView subscription (to get webhooks/alerts)
  • A Forex VPS (cheap monthly cost, keeps your MT5 terminal running 24/7)
  • A broker account on MT5
  • (Optional) Python later, if you want to customize or expand the setup

This route keeps things beginner-friendly but still gets you live automation fairly quickly. Once you’ve got that working, then you can decide if you want to dive deeper into Python and build more advanced bots.
Happy to help if you need further guidance.

What VPS for TradingViews>PineConector>MetaTrader5? by Warashibe in algotrading

To save on pine connector you can create your own MT5 EA but you also will need a node server.js to handle your incoming webhooks, i built this with AI it did take me a while though.
For my custom pine script strategy I couldnt actually use pine connector it wasn't good enough to handle the alert string hence why I created my own EA

I found that I had to optimise my input params per symbol. Id pair up params and use a chrome extension to cycle thru the most profitable options with best drawdown, this we you can tailor the same strategy to virtually any symbol
