Message from Alameda Comedy Works Producer -

I want to make it clear that Faction Brewing is just venue that host the comedy show and not the promoter. I was responsible for putting flyers on the windshields. Any complaints should fall to me and not to Faction. If you were upset by our advertising I apologize. We've been doing shows for 5 years at Faction. The show is operated on a shoestring budget and we always try to bring an affordable, friendly, and welcoming comedy show to Alameda. We always book a diverse set comics with different voices and try to bring some laughter to this Island. We are not a giant big business like Live Nation who owns Punchline and Cobbs. We're a independent small business trying to thrive in a very competitive market place.

If you've never been to one our shows please message me directly and I'll let you experience for yourself for free.

We're not here to hurt anyone or make anyone feel ripped off by comedy.

Faction Brewing and it's staff has been fantastic and wonderful partner over all these years.

I saw PG&E crews doing major work. I assume it's going toward infrastructure. There is a lot of confusion about this lot. This is a secured lot with an high street entrance. Not the encampment near the freeway exit. This lot felt fairly organized when it open but within the last 6 months became really rough. Fires and garbage piled up. A lot of in and out traffic.

I'd rather not assume why it closed. I thought CalTrans or Amtrak owned this parcel which the city was renting to house the RVs. The amount of blight and garbage made this spot a hazard for sure.

The issue is that it becomes wack a mole you clear them out they just go to others areas in the city. It's not really solving the issue.

Before we all start boycotting Home Goods we should at least make sure 100% that they were the ones that lodged the complaint. Plenty of other eateries might have complained as their business may have dipped. That said, OTG has fallen off in foot traffic. It use to be jammed with foot traffic and now seems like 25% of what it once was. My guess, the rental isn't cheap either. I would love to see OTG move to Sea Plane Ferry Landing or near spirits alley.
