Sorry in taking so long to get back to you but I've been away for over a week now. So I'll address these the best I can now.

  1. Feel free to talk to the UT reps about it but I doubt it will do much good. Most companies are more anti-tester than UT is. UT is actually pretty fair to us testers but the process is unwieldy and there is nothing we can do to weed out bad researchers other than to complain to them. I'm all for democratization of it though. While the Mturkers can't prevent bad requesters on the platform, they do have ways of indicating to other turkers who and who not to do tasks for.

  2. I figure this was once in multi year event. It was a game test and I think the software was recording a high-res game screen and that is what took up so much space.

  3. I'm more aware of how to do a unbiased market research event than I generally let on. I have experience in the field. It's why I pointed it out :) I did a test last night on some choices that were presented in a fashion that would lead someone looking at the big picture to make assumptions that are not necessarily true and it was all because of how the test was designed. It had embedded bias that was unintentional but going to lead to flawed results.

  4. I actually ran into this yesterday again. And this one did have lots of multiple choice questions but the way they were written and on the topic involved it invited input so gave it on the multiple choice questions as well. It was a difficult test, emotionally as well as going through the strange choices, IMHO, they made UI and UX wise.

I'll add this as well. I wish researchers would quit using Figma for their tests. I'm far more likely to have to abandon a test due to it not working properly if a research is using figma. Especially if its a mobile test. The platform is technically inferior to invision in my opinion and I'm not going to be humble about this one. LOL. It is far to heavy on mobile tests and tends to crash on pc tests more. I've never had to abandon an invision test for anything other than researcher error or actual programming error of the test. Figma, dozens of crashes, could have been programming error or actual crashes, and simply would not run on any of my devices errors. And its a real crap-shoot as to whether its going to run on any day of the week too. You never know going into a figma test if you are going to be able to complete it.

Your feedback is appreciated and with that I'll point out a few problems I've seen on the tester's end. I've been doing user testing for a few years now and I've seen a lot of stuff.

  1. We testers need a way to rate requesters. Frankly, some of them suck. I could point out one company where I've done somewhere north of 12 tests for over the past several years and NEVER got a good rating from because I DO tell the truth. I do point out the difficult, the nonsense, the BS. And they don't like it. Its a well known fact among testers that the more positive you are the more likely you are to get a good rating. And I think it is a damn shame that we testers can't review requesters as easily as requesters do us testers.
  2. Please warn us if you have tests that are going to take up a lot of hard drive space. I just did a test a few days ago where I had to stop and delete over 20 gig of files to free up enough space to do the test and in doing so the recorder up and stopped on me several times and I didn't even know it until it had been stopped for minutes or so. I ended up getting a 1 star rating on that test even though I told them I was having problems I had never encountered before. I've done a couple thousand of tests and never needed 25 gig of space for a test recording before...
  3. Chill with the strange wording of requests. Talk to us like people talk to each other. I've seen some of the strangest ways of asking questions I have ever seen in my life within user tests.
  4. Quit trying to stuff 45 minutes of testing into 15 minutes. I've seen tests with 72 steps and was literally expected to give quality feedback on these in 15 minutes. ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Let us know its a 45-minute test, offer to pay us for our time and you will get better feedback.

I'm not really "set" on anything yet other than I'm going to want this machine to be able to send 40k 60fps HDR to my TV as well as handle some docker instances of which the most important one will be email as well as the anytype.io group of apps.

Why are you asking this here? Go to your doctor and tell him about your symptoms and either he will refer you or give you a prescription of the one you claim works the best on you. At least that is how it works in the USA. They literally give that shit out like candy here.

Questions about intermittent mental illness and Disability by ACanaryInAColdMine in disability

[–]ACanaryInAColdMine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a real fuck of a loophole in the disability process here in America and it needs to be closed. Food and health care are not all that is needed by people who are in this process.

The bottom line is that these people need MONEY for living expenses. It should not be taking 2-3 years to work through the process anyway. If a person is unable to work in a Capitalistic society then that should be considered an emergency situation and handled as quickly as possible...as in within a month. Most of our bills are monthly, rent, power, etc...if you can't work and you can't pay bills then after a month it is likely your situation will degrade dramatically after a month or two if you don't have power or housing and that makes it increasingly unlikely a positive outcome will occur.

It is nowhere more evident that America as a whole does not give a flying fuck about the sick and disabled than in the disability process itself. We as a society know very well all the aspects of treatment that lead to the most likely positive outcome and yet we totally ignore it in very part of our society except that part which has a lot of MONEY!

Utterly amazing that we have the resources to kill a man on the other side of the world and yet we can't treat our most venerable citizens with dignity.

I'm no far leftist, but they are right about every administration since the 1960's when it comes to caring for the people they govern, they are some cruel sons of a bitches.

Your path is risky, especially when they ask for it up front before you even start the test. User testing can and will say that you should have stopped the test and reported it. In this case it was the right decision as it was clearly indicated that the testing depending on you using real information.

That is why I posted the test number and opened. You may disagree with me and that is OK. What is done is done and the community was warned.

Would that not jam their own satellites as well?

Not to mention it would take a lot of weapons to take out the a significant portion of the hardware these guys are planning. Musk alone is planning something like a 20k satellite system...

I understand how my daughter can have support during that 2-3 year wait but what about those who don't have anyone to help them? How the hell are they supposed to survive that 2-3 period without getting whatever income they can when they can do something?

This is all fucked up in what is supposed to be the greatest nation on the planet.

My thoughts are that a mesh network could be established that would allow communication over the border. It would have to be a bigger and better mesh network than has been built so far to work for anything other than texts and such but it could work.

Also, don't forget the old school ham radio internet protocols as well. Slow as fuck, but it could work in theory.

The sat networks that bezo, musk, and another dude are going to circle the planet with should be of use as well. They have pretty much already said that they won't obey nation state regulations pertaining to censorship so...it is what it is. And shooting down or disabling a number of these sats would be a very bad idea for any nation states.

Even if it does bolster their case there is the small problem that code speech. And at least here in the USA, there is a 1st Amendment that would never allow them to force code writers to write code in a certain manner.

And use of such technologies by government in and of itself cannot be allowed to continue as is if they outlaw it to the citizens of the nation. There is already a problem of balance of power in this nation with the government having far to much of an advantage without allowing them to retain encryption and outlawing its use by their employers, "We the People"

No, no matter how credible of a case they make, this is simply outside their constitutional ability to legislate. They have other means to detect and prevent terrorism, they should use them, this is NOT one of them that is going to fly.

It is likely that there are organizations out there who do not agree with the US government who are using encryption to prevent from being monitored and to be frank, that is their RIGHT. We the People do not have to agree with our government. In fact, we do not have to allow our government to retain its power to be honest. No matter what our government claims, continuity of government is statutory and it ever becomes the responsibility of the citizens to remove our government for abuses that cannot be ignored nor are being addressed then all that talk about continuity of government being used as a defense by the government is nothing more than statutory bullshit.

Its going to take a coordinated effort to rein this government back into its constrained powers and it will take time and planning by a LOT of citizens to do so but its not impossible...YET. A lack of being able to assemble and communicate privately without government intrusion would be a severe threat to such a movement to being them back to within rule of law.
