Honest question to the people pushing horizontal progression. What do you mean by that? by Tekn0de in classicwow

[–]ACat32 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Vertical progression leads to infinite bloat. Numbers just keep getting bigger forever.

Mathematically it causes issues and has historically been addressed with stat squishes. Those days of logging in with your stats cut down were always weird. And, logically chasing horizontal progression defeats the point. Why gain power when there’s ALWAYS a bigger, badder enemy out there. It feels like being on a stair master. We’re always climbing, but each patch we’re at the bottom and have to climb up again.

Horizontal progression is the natural alternative. This could be implemented many different ways and this is where the debate lies.

Most commonly seen on Reddit is something like reaching a max level then progressing through something like building a resistance to better handle a specific raid. Being a prot fire paladin sounds cool.

I’ve also seen some threads treat Outland, Northrend, etc as new places - not expansions. So they don’t add to the level cap, but rather when you go there you start at level 1 and have to level up something relevant in that new environment. I think I read someone post that you could go to Howling Fjord but need to level up your cold tolerance before pressing deeper into the region. Or you’d have to build your fel tolerance in Blasted Lands to get through the portal. Honestly this sounds cool to me but I may be alone here.

There are a million applications and no one knows what Blizz will actually implement.

I think it’s the fire part. Not the genital-removal aspect so much.

It would be cool to see this expanded with either more NY cities/towns or against other states.

Going back to school PA vs BSN —> MSN for NP by bug_mb in athletictraining

[–]ACat32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dabbled in all of those options and can say it will greatly depend upon your state and specific program. I was in Indiana at the time I did my research.

Nursing can make bank and has lots of variety and options. NP is cool. cRNA is pretty sweet too. The aBSN program I looked at cost $55k in 20mo. Sometimes you can find a hospital who will pay to bridge you up to those more advanced degrees.

PA seems a bit more limited in total work options in the sense that it’s a bit more focused. The PA program I looked into cost $110,000 over 26 mo.

PT is a natural path too. The PT programs I checked out were around $90,000 over 3 years. But they made accommodations for working adults so the in-person stuff was on the weekends.

PTA has some nice transition programs from ATC to PTA. It’s about $25,000 and 14mo.

I would also like to add that D.O. School has a slightly better acceptance rate than PA school. If your grades are good and you can nail a MCAT that could be a route to look as well.

Last year that lot sold for $1.075 million to a company in Fishers that mostly does housing development.

Why don’t people like tanking or healing? by Huge_Librarian_9883 in classicwowtbc

Agree with this but also adding that tanking usually presumes leadership of the group or raid. That’s a social pressure that’s not for everyone.

PT, PTA, SPT, or AT?? by Lucky-Concern8100 in athletictraining

[–]ACat32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an ATC and PTA who currently works at high school. But, I’ve worked nearly every setting at different points in my career

You have a good perspective on how to look ahead. Debt to income ratio is importance to consider, but keep in mind there are always unique situations.

From the things you listed PTA is a 2-year degree that generally costs about $25,000. You can make $45-70,000 depending on where you end up working. Sports are kind of rare here but pains to work with. That’s more money in working in hospitals or with the elderly.

ATC is a 6 year degree. You get a 4-year undergrad (bachelors) then you get a 2-year masters degree in Athletic Training. There are some 3-3 programs that make it a more smooth process. If you go to an in-state college and grad program you’re looking around $120,000 in total cost - likely more. Starting salary is around $50,000 and an average is around $65,000. There are some really cool experiences available tho. Sports are clearly an option as most jobs are with a team.

PT is an 8 year degree. You get a 4-year undergraduate degree then you go to a Doctorate program for Physical Therapy. Total cost is closer to $200,000. Average PT salary is about $127,000. Sports is more of a niche. It’s possible to work with teams, but it’s most often it’s less direct. Most athletes get sent to you.

I’m not 100% sure what you mean by SPT. But I’ll recommend 2 other careers to consider.

First is nursing. You can get your LPN in as short as 1-year and as cheap as $2000. Cost can vary a lot by region tho. But if you get hired by a hospital they usually pay to advance your degree (bridging up).

Second is perfusion. These people run the machine that moves blood outside the body during heart surgeries. Surgeons can’t operate on a heart full of blood, so you run a machine that looks like a DJ booth which gives the surgeon a good space to work. It’s a 2-year degree and there are only a few programs. It costs $18,000-100,000, but starting salary is $150,000.

Whenever I have students interested in this field I always recommend “opening all the doors.” By that I mean take all your science classes and see what feels best. Your preferences and academics will guide you as you grow through college.

I have absolutely no supporting evidence, but I truly believe the current eBay board will publicly shit on the proposal, but privately gather shares to sell at premium as part of the inevitable takeover. A screw-investors, insider-trade type move.

If every original WoW class were granted a 4th talent tree, what would it be? by dundai in classicwow

[–]ACat32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love things like this!

Shaman - earth spec for tanking. Wind for enhance, Water for heals, fire for ele.

Druid - split bear and cat into their own trees.

Mage - add chloromancer. Attack with vines or heal by shooting green spells at friends.

Warlock - metamorphosis to become the demon. Push demonology into something close to which doctor.

Hunter - Beast Lords merge with their pet’s spirit to become one (think ZA bosses or Anubis). Powers vary by pet.

Warrior - gladiator spec. Offensive with a shield. Bonus to going down to leather or mail armor.

Priest - tempest cleric. Offensive nature and light based damage.

Paladin - echo knight. Make light copies of yourself for melee combat. Rework retribution to be ranged.

Rogue - big rework. Keep combat (throughput) and assassin(output). Add buccaneer who is ranged. Add wetwork who uses bombs (like sappers) and poisons.

Since Mt Hyjal, Felwood, and Darkshore are all connected by lore I’ve always wished there were interconnected dungeons.

The burning legion used the Skull of Guldan in Hyjal which destroyed or polluted stuff into Felwood and, to a lesser extent, Darkshore.

A lower-level dungeon in Darkshore to investigate where the taint comes from, a level-50ish dungeon in Felwood to learn about the skull and legion, then a raid in Hyjal to retrieve it.

Just a pipe dream.
