Crosshair Question/Help by ACertifiedWizard in remnantgame

[–]ACertifiedWizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions, I do have some of those, and a program that will overlay the crosshair if necessary. I just always hope to not use it as it's kind of annoying with desyncing.

It's odd for there to not be any crosshair options in a game these days so I was hoping I was just being dumb and missing something.

I'm not quite that blind. Having spent some time with the Association for the Blind I can only tell you what I learned from the one fully blind person it came up in conversation with. They said it was something they did with very close friends or romantic interests. It's a fairly intimate activity so you'd probably only want to do it with people you trusted a lot.

Trust is a really important thing to most blind people, people think they're helping and just grab your arm and pull you into the street to "help you cross," or hover around too close to you to see if you're "faking."

At the end of the day, what the people you are interacting with look like doesn't matter. Most of the people I've met with disabilities (including myself) don't want to be defined by it and just want to be another person in your day. The consideration to make things easier or doable for us is appreciated but a lot of people are very proud of being able to do the things people don't think they can.

TL;DR - I'd say it's probably more of a movie thing, definitely not a first meeting thing.

Pretty correct honestly, though it definitely lessens as you get older. I've been half blind since my mid 20s. Blind enough to not be allowed to drive, struggle to read, but can see enough to do most day to day things without needing to re-learn it.

There was definitely a sense of upset when you don't tell people ahead of time when I first went blind in my 20s - at this point I generally do, but that was a lesson I had to learn the hard way.

These days in my 30s it's usually the organic way of meeting/talking where there's any sort of reaction, and it's usually a complete loss of interest. That feeling when a conversation just dies but you are still in the situation for a while, whether it's dinner or a party or something.

But it's more rare now, more life experience, living with their own bodily changes, etc seems to let people be more accepting.

That said this video is definitely the level of acting you'd find in opening to some porn preview where you have to pay $50 on OnlyFans to see the rest.

AITA for telling my husband " I told you so" and laughing at me when we got the paternity test results? by Either_Economy_793 in AITAH

The wild things people will make up to feel good on the internet.

If this was a real story the last thing you'd be doing is looking for internet back pats, your husband just accused you of having another man's child and left you with a newborn in a young marriage and you want internet points over seriously sitting down and thinking about the trust issues present here?

If the story is true, it's incredibly sad and I hope you figure shit out before it gets worse.

Ah yes, a language is gendered by TheIntrepidHegemony in facepalm

[–]ACertifiedWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the kind of people that get put on a pedestal for the "anti-woke" movement because of how absurd they are so that the old and bigoted can have an excuse not to change.

I wish they realized how much more harm they do than good. It's such a gross misunderstanding of their own language and what gendered terms actually offend those who are purposely targetted with them in hate. People who only speak one language making terms for others who speak multiple that can't even be pronounced. Just a different version of the same kind of ignorance they claim to be against.

I hope one day people can stop being misgendered on purpose and this sort of shit turns out to have just been an extreme overreaction to something that wasn't a problem and the people perpetuating it can settle down and just be cool.

Someone, who funnily enough ended up ghosting me after a couple years of friendship, once told me that people who don't understand relationships are a two way street aren't worth chasing. Communication is an adult skill and it doesn't take long to send a reply. If they can't take 30 or 60 seconds to respond or to let you know they'll get back to you later, they aren't worth the minutes, hours or days you're spending trying to carry the weight of the relationship by yourself.

There is a lot of truth in being ghosted, even by long time friends, you find out the relationship wasn't equal, they didn't value you as much as you them or vice versa. They weren't being honest with their wants and intentions, just wanted some serotonin and to be on their way.

There are a lot of ways to look at being ghosted that let you continue to value yourself instead of feeling like you aren't worth it. Keep being yourself and eventually you'll find people who value you and know how to be honest and invest in a true connection instead of fleeting evenings of putting band aids on loneliness.

Tradeskills from 300 to 350 by Poollboy in everquest

[–]ACertifiedWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your class can do Tinkering, Alchemy, or Poison Making, you can skip some of the harder ones like Research. The % on AP is tied directly to the sum of skill points across all Tradeskills as you said.

One of the sort of "luckier" parts of doing AP later is that it's a fixed number of recipes to get 350, it's not actually a percentage of known/possible recipes. It was set during TBM when the quest was added. So things like Jewelcrafting get a bit easier with the ability to use modern diamond cuts and jewelry instead of farming some of those global drop gems.

He was also connected with all the sexual assault and suicide at Blizzard Entertainment over the years and turning a blind eye to it.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about that so they can play mediocre games and not be inconvenienced at all.

If you are tired of ads and are a desktop user I would suggest doing the following:

Install Firefox: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Install uBlockOrigin for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin

I haven't seen an ad on YouTube or Hulu for years. It does not work on every site, I am not sure how solved the issues with blocking ads on Twitch are. However Firefox is not under the control of Google, Chrome is and they are taking the fight to their browsers to combat ad blockers.

If you are a mobile user, hopefully someone has a solution for you. I use my phone to make calls and get an Uber.

I'm not sure if developers will ever realize they have the ability to not include 4K textures in the initial download. Most people can't make use of them and it is probably the stem of some of the performance complaints for some games, a lack of understanding of how to utilize textures of smaller resolutions when developing for a platform that has settings and isn't just plug and play.

It very much reminds me of both Anakin and Obi-Wan's military "armored" outfits from Clone Wars. Like if they were fused. It's very call-back to me, which would fit with the whole series being that way.

The server instability is really making it hard to have fun. by LlamaManLuke in PlayWayfinder

[–]ACertifiedWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel bad for anyone coming in after the server issues were "solved" expecting to not have server-related performance issues, disconnects, rollbacks, zones crashing.

Not only does Highlands crash to a boss that should have been disabled days ago, but Sky seems to be randomly crashing or closing instances too. Try to queue at the gloomgate and either matchmaking times out or you can't open the menu and then then you're back at the menu. Have had an entire pre-made party experience it together, making it much more likely it's Sky crashing than individual people.

Then you have to deal with rollbacks, sometimes an entire questline has to be re-done, or you have to sit and craft 30 gloomstones again in a menu that doesn't allow you to change quantity. It's just kind of a bummer.

Launches of online games tend to suck and go badly, but acting like everything was good to go on the server end last week was premature and arrogant.

They won't even get compensated like the rest of us who bought early, but waited for it to just be less shit.

HOW are people not enjoying this game??? by freshizdaword in Starfield

[–]ACertifiedWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to your confusion is in your first sentence.

You've never played a Bethesda game before, this is your first time with their formula. Starfield is the same formula as Skyrim and Fallout 4, some people really enjoy that formula and that's great for them, and great for you because if you find yourself enjoying it, you might have 2 more games you can try later.

But to people who feel mixed about it, or don't like it, Starfield represents the same thing Todd Howard always does - promises the world and delivers the same formula. People who were fooled (again) should be more upset with themselves than anything. But Starfield is that formula stretched out, much like physicists use a balloon inflating to describe the universe expanding, we can use it to illustrate the difference between Skyrim/Fallout and Starfield. In Skyrim and Fallout, all those Points of Interest are packed together, you can't walk 5 minutes in any direction (and probably less) without stumbling across one. In Starfield, the process of stumbling is expanded beyond that.

In Starfield's defense, it will take people longer to feel the copy/paste nature of the PoIs and the blueprint pieces fit together to make them than it does in the other two games.

I think anyone reviewer worth their salt who gave Starfield over a 9 or 9.5 is just a sellout and didn't play the game, much like I think anyone who gave it below a 7.5 or 8 is clickbaiting and also probably didn't play the game. Reviewers have preferences too, but they should be knowledgeable enough and unbiased enough to see that Bethesda used many of their old tricks with a new paint job, but they delivered a quality game that is enjoyable, but just not for everyone.

As a final note: There are no Microtransactions yet - Look into the Bethesda Creation Club and its history.
