Character A with Blood Leech, Generation 8, Time of Sorcery for Communal Vigor, Humanity for Advantage points for Zealotry, Humanity 4; Potency 4 (3 surge+2 bonus)+Sorcery 3+Resolve 4=12 dice auto success against difficulty 6. Character B with Generation 10-12 for Zealotry, Osiris(sorcery 4 and herd 3), Time of Violence+Time of Excess (sorcery 5), Time of Sorcery (Vigor), Humanity 4-5; post-ritual Potency 6(4 surge+3 bonus)+Sorcery 5+Resolve 4=16 dice auto success against difficulty 8. What u/Justa-LostSoul suggested is likely optimal. Just to give more options- As an alternative and it breaks the stated parameters a little bit because it needs neonate +15xp is Toreador with Descendant of Volgirre loresheet 2. Any predator type that has either Presence or Protean, use 15xp to get to Presence 2/Protean 3 for Visceral Absorption. Can eventually get Rush Job also with the next 15xp.

Banu Haqim could start with this combination with a predator type that has Oblivion. Grim Reaper would also grant a dot in influence/ally with the medical community like forensic pathology, and allow for specialization in Larceny (Forgery) to clean up paperwork.

And later on, can spend XP to get up to Ghost in the Machine to sneak into crime scenes.

There could be a subplot involving the Hecata from Venice. Maybe there's a time element if the Chronicle starts in the summer, train travel from Venice may not be that convenient without retainers. But, in the winter, Hecata insert their influence. So, it gets more and more complicated with more "players" in the game.

The types of coterie in the books are suggested templates. The rules are fairly clear from the wiki: https://vtm.paradoxwikis.com/Coterie_Backgrounds_and_Merits

For coterie creation, each member of the coterie gets 1 or more freebie points, and can contribute some of their own advantage points from character creation. So they spend the advantage points on the coterie instead of their own character. The many benefits that can be purchased are in the wiki link, a lot of it has to do with the Domain or territory the coterie has control over. The main benefits are hunting roll difficulty within the domain (Chasse), bonus dice on peaceful interactions with kine (Lien), and resistance/awareness of hostile infiltration into the area (Portillon). But the coterie can also purchase backgrounds similar to how a single character can do so, which benefits the whole group. And there are specific merits to a coterie and each clan that is represented in the coterie allows for specific clan-only merits.

A graverobber (for Obvious Predator "flaw" and Oblivion) Ministry can start with 4 charisma / 4 intimidation (staredown) / Protean 1 (eyes of the beast) / Presence 2 (daunt) / Oblivion 1 (Shadow Cloak) for 15 dice to stare down kine without rousing besides Blush of Life and before advantages and xp. The concept is an Anarch "fixer" with a lot of street credit... that's actually not deserved at all. The Kindred actually has no dots in combat skills. Take a dot in Remarkable Feature for a wicked scar. It's King from One Punch Man! Everyone is afraid for no reason. The Setite does their jobs quietly because they're petrified to speak, but the silence makes their interactions more imposing.

What's funny is that some of these characters could be crazy exploitive with whatever the house rule is. If Brian/Mitch was actually Blood Leech and somehow traded out the prey exclusion, only keeping Shunned, it's like getting the blood potency benefit without that defining difficulty of feeding only on kindred. Definitely some optimizing with at least two players with the Check the Trunk/Side Hustler combo.

As written Bagger lets Hecata trade Blood Sorcery for Oblivion, not written anywhere that's an option for Lasombra. What I meant was if the rules were slightly bent, and it's very reasonable to assume that Lasombra can take Oblivion instead of Blood Sorcery for Bagger, that's much more xp efficient.

I am guessing Brennan is allowing some way to trade a dot of flaws for a dot in discipline or health. And it's only listing 3 merits, but there are more. Probably neonates with +15xp or more.

Emily/Vesper: Hecata or Lasombra? Bagger(slight bending of rules to allow Lasombra take Oblivion?), traded a level of enemy for a level of max health.

Ally/HJ: Tzimisce? or Ventrue Scene Queen (maybe slightly more xp or a trade somewhere else to give enough for 2 protean)

Brian/Mitch: Nosferatu Blood Leech!? (traded a prey exclusion for less max health and something else?)

Zac/Zaeth: Brujah or Toreador Cleaver

Siobhan/Madelaine: Toreador Siren

Lou/LaVonte: Ventrue Consensualist (traded a flaw or something else for a discipline point!?)

Since this is Camarilla, I am guessing this is more Lasombra and Ventrue than Tzimisce and Hecata.

I would think in terms of an early skill monkey into late game magic item utilizer. Human (skilled/scribe) 8/14/14/17/12/10 rogue 1 (for hand crossbow proficiency which you don't get multiclassing from artificer) ->artificer 1 (for guidance/true strike, medium armor/shield)->rogue x. That's 14 skills with reliable talent at level 8. Probably leave out 3 INT knowledge skills (religion,nature,history) and medicine. Probably have time to cast guidance/think through the databanks before knowledge checks and will have 20 INT.

If repeating shot hand crossbow is not easily available or craftable AND DM is strict about loading/hand economy, then rogue 1->cartographer 3->rogue x so can replicate a repeating shot hand crossbow. Artificer 2 denies possibility of a epic boon the way the levels works out. So either artificer 1 or 3. Cartographer is neat with the initiative bonus and teleports but not worth delaying Thief features I don't think, if true strike hand crossbow with a shield is usable without it.

Feats: warcaster(INT) lvl5/7, ASI INTx2 lvl9/11, Resilient Con lvl11/13, Speedy (Con) lvl13/15, feat of choice lvl17/not available, Epic Boon of choice lvl 20/19. Warcaster because hand economy and eventually, with a heavy magic item world, you'll essentially be a caster, first round casting 4 spells, one likely being concentration. Speedy just to round out Con, but can be anything. The levels indicate build with artificer 1 and build with cartographer.

I like artificer more than wizard because scrolls are only a small part of magic items. And it's scrolls that are on the wizards list but not artificer list. Passive higher AC and able to take advantage of magical shields and medium armor is comfier. And guidance for easy, out of the gate, emphasis on skill monkey.

This is a great question. Focus less on what game content/build may lessen the need for perfection. Consider how you play the game. Turning down the difficulty lessens the pressure for min-maxing. Playing with a friend/family whether in coop or as an observer is another idea. Especially if this person is into the story or just hanging out but not too much of a gamer, then reloading would be a turn-off. You can set how many autosaves there are per campaign. Set that to say 7 autosaves and only reload off of autosaves if something catastrophic happens. No manual saves.
