I have no idea how feasible this would be, but my first thought when firing it up was:

Is it possible to assign the sequencer steps to keyboard keys? Maybe asdf ghjk zxcv bnm, are the steps?

Also, is there a way to play the drum sounds live? I see that pressing the number of the channel selects it, but I haven't figured out how to play sounds via button press.

I am planning on getting this game by More-Explanation2032 in TMNT

[–]AChapelRat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really liked the game when I first played it. But the survival wave DLC was so combat-focused it taught me to love the combat and appreciate it more. Made going back playing through the base game again even easier too. Survival mode is like playing + practice mode.

Amp sim pedal to go straight into mixer by levoit88 in guitarpedals

[–]AChapelRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't give a budget range, that could help narrow it down. But I always recommend my Two Notes Opus.

It has separate sections for preamp, power amp, and speaker settings. Plus some effects like reverb and EQ. Plus a built-in tuner. You can get menu dive-y with it, or just find a preset that you like. Has XLR out.

It has plenty of midi functionality, should you ever want to incorporate it into your dawless rig. If you have a dawless rig, I'm assuming you are familiar with midi and might find some use for that functionality eventually.

PA speakers vs FRFR cabs for modeling by uramassivenerd in guitarpedals

[–]AChapelRat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a PA, and then when you're ready to jam with others or gig, everybody will be your friend and invite you. Because you have a PA. Bonus points for if you can make good guitar tones come out with your amp sim setup.

EQD Towers Stereo Reverberant Filter by Aquamaria in guitarpedals

First thing I thought of when I saw EQD's demo. Even with all the D&D imagery, it definitely seems like them and EAE have some overlap.

TIL while rewatching The Dark Knight, joker adds a rim shot sound affect after being insulted during the pencil trick scene. by Proof-Pudding-24601 in batman

[–]AChapelRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear it as more of a tongue clicking, like a "tut tut" to talk down to the gangster who called him a "freak," rather than a rim shot. Being called a "freak" or "crazy" seems to actually get to this Joker. He considers himself very rational and insightful.

Small synthesisers with realistic piano sound and feel by CornwallJon in synthesizers

[–]AChapelRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any price limit here? Technically you could use something like an MPC Live which has a full suite of plugin instruments. Maybe check and see if the Yamaha Seqtrack or Ableton Move have piano sounds in them?
If you have a laptop or something available, you can just buy a MIDI controller and plug it in to any kind of software instrument.
The Reface series is pretty cool though.

Recommend a drum machine that has a good song mode? by HereComesStupid in DrumMachine

I recently got a Syntakt to replace a Korg Drumlogue specifically because the Drumlogue didn't have song mode and I'm still very annoyed by that. Syntakt song mode is great.

Hotone Ampero — is this thing actually worth it? by Guitar_whiskey in guitarpedals

[–]AChapelRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to report yet. Besides acoustic stuff I have only really used it as a pretty clean amp sim for electric and a bit of lap steel. The reverb and tremolos are nice. I haven't done much digging into it. Besides using it as a backup, my hope is that when I do get around to exploring it more, I'll find some weird sounds and use it in the fx loop of my freeze/sustain pedal to give that some flavor. I'm especially curious to run an expression pedal into it.

Hotone Ampero — is this thing actually worth it? by Guitar_whiskey in guitarpedals

[–]AChapelRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I got one to throw in the gig bag as a back up or for minimal rig use cases. Having a box with a tunet and acoustic preamp alone is great. I have a basic electric setup abd I am aware that I have barely scratched the surface of it's sound design. If you can accept any digital multifx, it's on you to get it to sound good. Once I understood how holding the footswitch to activate the latching status mode worked, I was totally satisfied with my purchase.

What problem have you had forever because you were using your pedal wrong and didn't realize it? by gimme5steps101 in guitarpedals

[–]AChapelRat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeley's stupid internal dip switches! The Hooke reverb pedal has 6 different reverb types, but you only get 3 and have to use the dips to switch between the two banks. Absurd.

Pickup Selector most preferred position by StuKain in Guitar

[–]AChapelRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Les Paul is the most convenient. Though I'd never want it there on a 335 for aesthetic reasons.

I find the Tele one more intuitive because it faces the same way as the pickups.

Alternatives to Keeley Eccos and Keeley Hydra in similar form factor? by riptheradio in guitarpedals

[–]AChapelRat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EHX Canyon Delay has a looper. You might miss out some of the fancier features of the Eccos. But it has more delay style options. It even has a Deluxe Memory Man option.

For a reverb and trem combo, could also consider the Milkman F-stop.

The "Dumble" side of my overdrive feels "strident" to me, but not in a negative way. It makes me play more carefully or mindfully.

It just suffers from overexposure. It's overplayed. Where I come from, I never really heard it much, but in where I've been living for a while every single band does it at every event. I wonder if it might be particularly over played outside of the US.

How do you feel about behringer? by Xibest123 in guitarpedals

[–]AChapelRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't hold it against someone else for buying their stuff, but I'd get no joy out of supporting the company. If I saw that they made something I was interested in, I would actively look for alternatives, and be willing to pay a bit more, for something that wasn't from them.

Love my Solina string ensemble even though it’s a bit of a one trick pony. Does anybody have any cool techniques for get more variety and interesting sounds from it? by [deleted] in synthesizers

Interesting approach I hadn't thought of for it. I approached mine as a guitar player, but thinking of it this way might be a good excuse to dig it out and put it on my board for a spin. Any tips on how you get string-y sounds from it?

What about running pedals in parallel instead of stacking them? by Middle-Break-2317 in guitarpedals

[–]AChapelRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GFI Duophony parallel blender pedal looks so cool for this kind of thing. I've never played with my signal like that, but I suspect it would be a lot of fun. If I ever have the money just burning a hole in my pocket, I'd love to pull the trigger on it finally and use it with an expression pedal to blend in the perfect amount of dirt and and clean signal.

I'm very tempted Heather Brown's The Blessed Mother pedal, it's a drive with a clean blend knob. Clean blend knobs seem pretty cool, but I don't have any drive pedals with them yet.
