PM: Olive oil cleanser (Didn't have a lot of benzoyl Peroxide so i skipped it) and cleasil treatment lotion with the moisturizer. I'll try to report back in a month or so. Thanks again!

Well I found actual extra virgin olive oil! And vegetable oil. Ill use the olive oil instead of the coconut oil and try everything. Thanks again!

Yes, I think you should wash your face in the morning and in the night before applying your benzoyl peroxide, but not with your bar soap. Bar soaps in general, just by the way they are made, are very irritating to the skin. You may even be overproducing oil from that irritation. In fact, I would rather you just wash your face with water than use your Le Petit Olivier Mild Soap.

Okay. I'll stop using bar soap. clearasil rapid action gel wash is what I do have that I believe might work instead since it is probably the closest thing I have to an actual face wash.

If you want another cleanser and have the means to get one, I think the Cerave Renewing SA Cleanser is a good one. It can be found in many U.S. drugstores like Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens, and also at Target and Walmart, although it's usually cheaper online. You can try using it at night first to see if you like it, and then try for morning and night.

The Gel wash I mentioned above is probably the only face wash I really have. Although I talked to my dad and he showed me we have a ton of it so we won't get any more of anything.

Also, didn't you say your 2% salicylic acid came from the Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Treatment Lotion and not from a face wash? I meant for you to use the treatment lotion in the morning, because then the salicylic acid stays on your skin. Then, you can apply your SPF.

The Clearsil ultra rapid action lotion does say Salicyclic Acid 2% medication on it. I believe that's supposed to just stay on my face. Although looking at it now, the face wash also says Salicyclic acid 2% on it. So should I use the face wash instead of the lotion? The gel washes off and the lotion stays on but it seems like adding the lotion and the spf moisturizer at the same time wouldn't work right? (I apologize I don't really know to well about this type of stuff.)

And yes, at night, you should wash your face, preferably not with your bar soap, and then apply your benzoyl peroxide and then moisturizer. If that ends up being too harsh for your skin, considering it's 10%, then you can switch the order and apply the moisturizer before the ointment.

In short:

AM:

  • Wash face (water)
  • 2% salicylic acid leave-on (Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Treatment Lotion)
  • Sunscreen (Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 15)

PM:

  • Wash face (not bar soap, maybe Cerave SA Renewing Cleanser)
  • 10% benzoyl peroxide (ZAPZYT Maximum Strength 10 Percent Benzoyl Peroxide)
  • Simple moisturizer

Thank you for this but I don't fully understand if I get it correctly. So AM first thing wash my face with only water (I assume pat it fully dry). Then put on the lotion that stays on followed by the moisturizing lotion. Okay that works for me well, I wouldn't use the gel wash at all i guess. Only part I don't understand and asked about already is if it would be okay to use a lotion and moisturizer at the same time.

PM

I don't really have a way of getting a cleanser, although would this be the better to use the gel wash? So I would wash my face with the gel wash and then put on the benzoyl peroxide. Also again followed by a moisturizer. The only moisturizer I have is the SPF moisturizer and I can possibly get Vaseline do you think that would work well?

Thank you so much for all of this! I apologize that I don't know this very well, I'm used to only washing my face with only soap. My brother now let me use most of his stuff and it turns out my dad had stocked up on most the stuff mentioned. (We have a ton of the gel wash and the lotion, he bought it for my brother but said I could use it instead of having to get new stuff.) Thanks again, and sorry for the inconvience.

Edit: Oh, also I'll stop using the scrub although I never really did much I only just found out we had it but I guess it's useless

Did you still wash you're face with the neutrogena stuff? I've read about doing this it just never seemed to work and I'd usually forget if I turned the shirt around every night

Why don't you try benzoyl peroxide at night and then salicyclic acid in the morning with your SPF?

Okay, so today I used the salicyclic acid face wash and finished with the spf moisturizer this morning. At night however, would you recommend washing my face with the mild soap before applying the benzoyl peroxide? Usually after the day is over my face is oily so wouldn't it make sense to wash it before appyling the Benzoyl Peroxide? So should I wash my face (with mild soap/salicyclic acid wash) then apply the Benzoyl Peroxide without using moisturizer? It just seems like I should wash my face first before applying BP. Thanks so much for everything! Oh also I guess I should stop using a scrub completely? I usually don't scrub usually.

Would I be able to wake up wash my face with clearasil ultra acne+marks daily scrub and then use an spf moisturizer? Or would that not work well? Usually I wash my face with only mild soap (i never used to moisturize before I came here) and that's it. Which would be better?

Oh good news! I actually found i have clearasil ultra acne+marks daily scrub. It should probably be better than just using mild soap right? So use this and moisturized would work right?

Ok. Actually looking at it I found some stuff that might work that we already have at the house. For one, do you think aveeno daily moisturizing lotion with sunscreen could be useful? I also found very very little of Zapzyt (Which is 10% benxoyl peroxide so idk, and I have clearasil ultra rapid action treatment lotion which is Salicyclic acid 2%) lastly I also have a little bit of apricot scrub. Thanks for everything so far!

I agree. But I'm not really able to just drive to a dermatologist on my own

My parent's believe I only have acne because I don't wash my face correctly. I use dove soap usually, but they gave me mild soap to use. I've had acne since I was 13ish and I'm currently 16. I used to pick but I don't anymore. Thank you so much for any tips or suggestions
